Boris Johnson Says UK Will Work With Taliban If Necessary

the situation is is getting you know slightly better and uh we’re seeing a stabilization at the at the airport at the hamilkar international airport so yesterday we were able to get out about a thousand people uh today another thousand people and a lot of those uh obviously uk eligible persons coming back to this country and a lot of them uh uh people coming back under the afghanistan resettlement and assistance program the arap and um those are the people the interpreters others to whom we owe uh debts of of gratitude and honour and uh we’ll continue to work as fast as we can over the next few days so the operation is becoming faster but i’m not going to pretend to you that it’s easy the as you can imagine the logistical challenges are formidable and uh they’re doing an outstanding job in in very difficult circumstances what i want to assure people is that our political and diplomatic efforts to find a solution for afghanistan working with the taliban of course if necessary will will go on and our commitment to afghanistan is lasting absolutely and i can tell you that the whole of the government has been working virtually around the clock hitting the phones to uh do what we can to sort it out to deal with a a situation that has been long in uh in gestation uh and to make sure that we get as many people back [Music]
