Boston Scott Talks His Touchdown vs. Jets, Hurricane Ida, & More | Eagles Press Conference

hey boston thanks for taking the time today we’ll get started here with josh and then martin hey boston man is there a you got a security guard next to you one man army and i appreciate it um first i gotta i gotta ask you man what was your phone looking like when you got back to the locker room you know after after that after that play uh you know did you have a bunch of uh i guess messages and texts after that touchdown yeah man you know i’ve it’s been a blessing man with as many people as i’ve had in my corner uh throughout this process man from from the very jump you know i’ve had a bunch of people supporting me so man i’m very thankful and grateful to have the amount of people that have been supporting me up to this point is is real cool and if i could follow up on that on that same play could you walk us through like what you were thinking in in that moment did you did you know that he was gonna you know attempt to make a tackle right there is that what kind of made you juke the other way and just walk us to you know your thought process on that touchdown well i actually take it back even further and it’s just you know kudos to coach sirianni and um coach jamal and co-shane because i actually um in the previous uh preseason game i actually busted on that same route uh my my path was off just by just by you know maybe a yard or so and uh i wasn’t able to get the ball and so um they they corrected it you know and coach nick has always just been real detail oriented about the details and the fundamentals you know and at this level it’s all about inches you know what i mean and so literally it made the difference between not getting the ball at all and scoring the touchdown so i mean it was just being on the right track being on the right path so that you know joe could make his throw and then from there instincts just took over appreciate you go ahead martin and then john mcmullen hey boston um i’m sure football is probably secondary to you right now with what’s going on in louisiana and i was kind of wondering if you’ve heard from your family if they’re all safe if everyone’s okay yeah everybody’s good my mom was able to uh go go to some family in texas my dad’s side of the family kind of stayed put i’ve been communicating with them uh me and my girlfriend been communicating with them and um their power is out but um there are a lot of people in south louisiana that are going to be uh without power uh there’s obviously damage that’s been done but you know in the in the hot summer months you know down there in louisiana it’s just a different breed i mean it’s it’s like a sauna and so you know there’s there’s definitely gonna be a lot of negative factors playing into um at the aftermath of you know the aftermath of what’s happening so my heart goes out you know to my state you know to everyone involved that family in new orleans as well so you know because hey i just hate to see it yeah if i could follow up i mean i imagine you’re probably old enough to remember katrina and everything i mean did this bring back a lot of you know bad bad type of memories and thoughts of that yeah i mean i was you know back in 0.9 man it was uh crazy man it was it was absolutely crazy um i just remember you know our our power going out and just just how long our power was out you know and not not really having access to food after a while you know again you know having family down in new orleans people trying to get out you know in this in that time we definitely weren’t ready for it uh and those of you that don’t know new orleans is shaped like a fishbowl and so that’s why you saw how catastrophic it was with the levees breaking and everything like that so you know i remember it i remember it vividly man it was sheesh it was it was tough we’ll go to john and then beau hey boston uh hope you’re doing well you’re dealing with so much off the field stuff from that perspective is it a little bit easier here this year from not having to worry about making the final 53 you’re kind of entrenched and and then do you give any advice to the young guys so this is obviously a difficult time for them as they kind of wait uh for that uh good news or bad news well you know kind of like what i alluded to earlier in this in the season in the offseason you know i kind of create you know this mindset of each year is a new year you know what i mean so at no point during this offseason that i think to myself oh i’m a lock for this roster oh you know i’m getting ready for the regular season you know what i’m saying because every year is a new year you know what i mean and so to be honest with you my the anxiety and the stress was there with that too you know what i mean i definitely approached each day attacked each day to the best of my ability uh but i mean most definitely i’ve been in that situation twice you know and honestly i feel like you know i i’ve been in that situation plenty of times and that’s even i mean before before the league you know being a walk walk-on it’s just always been this this mindset of you know having that small margin of error and i really feel like it um prepared me for for this level you know so my heart definitely goes out to guys that you know are stressed out guys that are anxious about you know roster cuts and being on the bubble you know i’m saying i definitely i definitely know you know whenever you know elijah was out there on the field man and you know he’s getting it in getting his work in you know i’m there with him every step of the way just trying to you know encourage him be there be there for him because i know what it’s like i’ve been there i’ve been in that situation all right we have time for two more and then we have miles sanders on deck so go ahead bo and then rob hey boston i’ve asked a lot of guys this but uh now that you have have watched all of training camp if you had to pick one guy on the team who’s gonna have a big season who would you say i would say josh sweat why is that josh sweat i’ve never seen i’ve never seen someone that big get off the ball you know as as quickly as as he has and just being able to uh see him you know continue to grind work his craft uh each year you know we had this little drill last year and the year before that we would work get off some punt return you know what i mean and you know i pride myself on being pretty quick but jay sweat man he can get off that damn ball you know what i’m saying i’m not going i don’t know the film is kind of grainy and blurry so i’m not sure about the results but you know they say that joshua would get a few of them so nah man he’s you know an incredible player man and um i really i really feel that he he’s he’s been making noise and he’s going to continue to make some noise thank you go ahead rob boston uh the other day we’re talking to nick he was talking about how um the the ability of the backs and catching the ball out of the backfield is going to be a weapon for this team this year i mean he said there’s no secret that that that’s something he’s looking to do we saw that certainly with you the other night and we’ve seen it uh multiple times what kind of dynamic can that bring to your offense and uh what what is that what do you think of that uh possibility yeah i mean i think it’s you know it makes it makes the offense multifaceted you know what i mean like we are we have weapons on the outside we have tight ends that can create mismatches and then you have backs that you know that can do a little bit of everything you know i’m saying i think it’s i think it’s very important i think you know all the guys in the room have the ability to to be a dual threat back or a triple threat back that includes pass protection and so um you know those guys work man they’ve been doing nothing but working uh it’s been it’s been a blessing to be able to work with them you know and watch you know watch the young bugs develop you know crazy saying that now because i’m you know i used to be the young guy but you know kenny g jason huntley you know elijah you know just seeing those guys continue to come along and and do the things that they do man it’s really rewarding to see you know the work pay off man you know and it holds me accountable to the host i’m sure jordan and miles and carry on and uh those guys can attest to it too you know it holds us accountable too because we gotta know what we talking about we gotta know what we doing we gotta make sure that we’re setting an example so just the amount of talent that we have in that room is incredible and that just you know that’s that’s on the front office for doing a good job of bringing guys in and coaching nick and all that good stuff so it’s it’s pretty it’s pretty dope all right thanks for the time boston you
