and girls want to do daily dilly okay i have a show without it see you on the water you’re staying hydrated hell yeah i woke up i woke up today like super parched and i realized that i might have drinking a glass of water yesterday so i was like let me let me try to do a little bit better today balance out that was that was me yesterday so i i definitely feel it um roof we’re gonna dive right into it um i’ve gotten to hear hear your story on other podcasts but our listeners and our viewers may have not i’ve gotten to hear it before what where where kind of did you get your start like where it all come from from sports talk of florida to some of the different assignments that you’ve done in the different teams and players that you’ve got to interview where did it all begin uh i would probably say around like 2016 2017 uh i was in my maybe fourth or fifth year working as a bartender at disney and i overheard some of my co-workers that were obviously a little bit older than me and they were discussing their regrets in life and they’re just like you know what i can’t believe that we’re still here like we’ve been serving for 15 plus years and you know they were having like a deep conversation about it and i was over overhearing it and i just it really started to ponder to me like okay disney’s great the money’s awesome i was able to purchase a home at 22 years old not many people could say that you know i was able to you know do a lot of things financially that i felt really set but i’m like but does this make me happy and i’m like not at all i cannot see myself doing this long term so that’s when i really started to think like what can i do what am i good at because i already had dropped out of college because i wanted to go to school to be a veterinarian but then i realized how much schooling and work that was and i’m like i’m not really the smartest tool you know not the sharpest tool in the shed so what else can i do so i was watching espn at my bar because it was super slow we had nothing going on and i believe it was michelle beale that i was watching on one of her sports shows when she was with espn and i swear it felt like a light bulb just like dinged in my head i was like i could do that i’ve been following sports my entire life i am not shy in front of the camera why not shoot my shot so literally that week i googled all the information about what degrees i need to go to school for all this kind of stuff and i started that semester that following semester uh going to school and i just graduated back in august or last the beginning of this month so finally got there and yeah that’s kind of where it all started i was just like i can’t make disney money for the rest of my life i want to do something more fulfilling you know not it’s not all about the paycheck it’s about something doing something that you love and i’ve been a fan of the game since a very young age so i’m like why not let’s go for it and here i am today jordan’s saying hey let’s go jordan uh a lot of florida love already happening like to start off the beginning of this show so i lived in orlando i lived in orlando for 20 years i moved to orlando from pennsylvania so i spent two decades in orlando and i just moved out to tampa florida back in january to pursue this career because i’m so driven and i felt like you know orlando was kind of fizzling out for me so i needed to go somewhere else and start new so now i’m in tampa florida about a mile from the raymond james stadium so i got to walk home after the super bowl and that was probably one of the best moments of my life that’s that that’s a that’s that’s just a great way to avoid different things that can happen it’s like you know what i’m not gonna drive from the super bowl like i am just gonna walk right across the street and then fall right into my bed like that’s that’s the luxury within itself i woke up with my jordan still on so i know i had a great great night i’m not i don’t remember getting home but i remember the the walk so yeah tiptoeing and control uh jordan said he went to uh ucf uh also live in okay i’m not going to say oviedo oh yeah there you go okay oviedo and currently lives in south florida to tampa tampa area is awesome yeah yeah it seems like florida’s i i have an obsession with tampa bay like i like i said i lived in orlando for 20 years and tampa just takes the cake uh you know being close to the ocean just it being such a huge sports town because in orlando it’s all about the tourists and it’s all about disney and mickey mouse and blah blah blah blah you know over here in tampa everybody’s about their sports and i just feel like this is a place that i really belong uh so when i got the opportunity to move out here for a sports job i was like i have to take it like this is my moment uh i was a i was the co-host of the martin grammatica show uh with martin grammatica himself for z living for the first uh six months of my tamper tenure and uh now i’m moving on to the next chapter and radio and i’m super excited nice nice hey that that’s that’s honestly a a beautiful journey i mean you know god how did you get in a radio like you you mentioned your camera presence as well you have an amazing camera presence do you prefer one or the other so i started with radio because uh the sports talk florida they were looking for interns and my sister actually worked for genesis communications which is the partner uh of the network and my sister reached out to me and she said hey i can get you hooked up with an internship i’m not really sure what they’re going to have you do but they have a sports segment that that i’m sure you can get involved in so i signed up for the internship and i got pulled in in the beginning of 2019 or no the the summer of 2018 uh is when i started my internship with sportstalk florida and it was great like just being in the you know being in the atmosphere being in the studio being around like everybody that’s been doing it for years it was it was a great experience but obviously i i’d rather be on television than radio but i i i enjoy them both equally same same i mean i don’t know i’ve been surprised sometimes i’ve interviewed people like i definitely prefer radio i don’t like being on tv and some people are like no put me in front of the camera it’s a lot easier yeah well i feel like i have the presence for for television i’m just more you know intriguing over you know when you guys could actually see me so i i i’m gonna take that and run you know absolutely everybody has their superpowers and i just think uh being on the television set is one of mine because i that’s when i flourish the most uh i mean when i when i first got the opportunity to be martin grammaticus co-host like i had never been on television before and they threw me into a live set like oh we’re live for two hours we get you get two minute breaks every 10 minutes but we’re live for two hours and you just gotta keep going and they didn’t they didn’t want me to do a lot of studying prior to it they wanted it to be more like an improv show so uh which i enjoyed mult i enjoyed that the most because you could just keep going with the flow and just you know see where everything goes and not have to be stuck to like a bulletin point type of show you know so i enjoyed myself and i learned a lot i i i like that i like that we have we have kind of a show like that where like we have a loose show sheet that like i write out topics but right friday night i let them do what they want i’m like dude go ahead you give the people what they want um jordan asks he’s like so you are saying the first round exit magic aren’t champions i don’t think the magic being relevant since shaq and penny was together it’s been a while uh i became i started being a tracy mcgrady fan when i watched him play for orlando and how he kind of carried that friend on his back so ah the orlando magic they made a lot of great draft picks they got jalen suggs in the early in the draft with the six uh six overall pick so i’m happy to see the direction that they’re going it to but i don’t get my hopes up as a floridian for 20 plus years you cannot count on the orlando magics to make a long or sometimes it’s i mean it took a while for them to even get into the playoff picture and they they were knocked out in the first round against the raptors a couple seasons back so been a lot of a little lot of disappointments with the orlando magic but i’m hoping they could uh turn things around soon with this younger team that they’re starting to develop okay okay okay i like that analysis um i see that you have a cowboys jersey on but then you have like the whole state of florida behind you oh she’s like she’s like oh let me make sure you all see the truth it’s the truth i like that i like that my first customized it’s my first customized jersey uh that i got and it means a lot to me so because it was the first and this was the jersey number that i wore all through middle school high school and all that so this 11 is my number so so you so you are you are an athlete or or you know we’re an athlete yeah so what sports did you play growing up okay so it started with basketball when i was seven uh i have a basketball hoop around my my chain here that i never take off i probably have this i had this necklace for like eight plus years uh so it started with basketball because i was tall so i’m like i have to use this height for something and uh when i was about seven eight years old the neighbor across the street uh got a basketball hoop for christmas so i always used to see him out there like shooting around by himself and i was new to the neighborhood so i kind of wanted to go introduce myself to this kid and i’m like hey like let’s shoot hoops so me and my friend jordan his funny his name was jordan at least to live across the street from me he taught me how to play basketball and really instilled that love with uh love for me uh love for basketball uh for me and kid you not he had like 20 pairs of jordans because he was an only child so people used to call him jordan jordan and uh growing up i i used to hate when they were the only kid the only child kid came into high school i’m like damn always look good like never skip a beat it was always like oh hey jordan jordan’s saying the same rumor get out of here jordan said rumor has it robbie got locked up in canton bro we didn’t first off we didn’t play basketball in cane nor football second off no one in this whole entire industry is ever doing that to me third off see me in miami in about a week and a half bro we can hit the court jordan we can hit the court bro okay see look at this the chat out here talking [ __ ] i don’t like that so yeah so i was actually the only girl on my block and uh so it was my bro it was my two older brothers and their four guy friends that we were all around the same age so it was me and five dudes growing up so i was like i learned how to play football kickball baseball softball we did everything and that’s kind of like how i became an athlete because you know the new generation is all about being inside and playing video games but back in the 90s it was all about going outside and getting dirty so yeah the new generation is different to me yeah the new generation is different um what was it really quick uh what what position did you did you play in basketball i think you played you said you played flag as well right yeah flag football uh all through high school i was the the quarterback for our varsity team in high school because i do have a hell of an arm i also fast pitched for our softball team as well i did track i did concrete i play i was on our swimming team for one season because they were like short a girl and i just wanted to help out uh i did tennis what else did i play it’s like almost like what didn’t i play i think the only sport that i’ve never really participated in like on a full team and actually being on a roster was soccer uh because soccer and basketball always conflicted with their seasons and seasons yeah loving basketball is always gonna be my number one well i like and i like the movie breakfast that was smooth that was that was smooth right there i caught that um so so what are some of your some of your favorite sports teams and your favorite moments working in in in this space so my favorite football team is obviously the dallas cowboys uh i do a lot of work for the team we’re like that one slide by the way i do a lot of work for the tampa bay buccaneers uh prior to them uh you know gaining a super bowl ring i was rubbing shoulders with martin grammatica for about eight months and uh my sisters my older sisters went to fsu so we were all seminals fans so obviously we followed the journey of jameis winston so i’ve always kind of had a love for tampa bay um and then with brady obviously coming here you always have respect for the goat i mean he’s never i’ve never had any issues with brady myself because he’s always been in the afc so he never was a bother to me in my cowboys so i never really had beef with brady so um now that he’s here in tampa and we’re able to see what he’s doing it’s it’s you gotta have respect but i i believe blue at the end of the day uh see i’m i’m burgundy and gold burgundy and gold what are we watching the football team yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he didn’t he didn’t even want to say yeah he’s like yeah i kind of i mean we’re gonna name soon we’re getting a name soon i thought they were keeping it wft i i like the way that there’s a clip that they’ve narrowed it down so technically speaking which is like the weirdest thing ever they have three names already chosen but to the public there’s eight names and in this eight names that are the finalists the three are the actual real ones they have like this press clip where rivera and you know turner they’re all on the phone and everything and they say what the new team name is but they bleep it out so the suspense exactly yeah are they releasing it this year are they going to wait until the following season like wow i think it’ll be at the end of the season at the end of the season though they’ll release it so make what you can off your merch dollars this year and you know that way the fans like oh i have when we were watching football team and then if they decide to keep the football team they keep the football team and it’s like cool if it’s gonna be i think it’s like the red wolves red hogs commanders a bunch of other different ones there are mottos one of them i’m like what do we have to do with spain you know so yeah it’s it’s definitely definitely um interesting oh wow i didn’t know i was on the live on a podcast with a division rival yeah i tried to i tried to you know keep that you know a lot of people are saying that the washington football team is going to take the division and i just don’t understand how they see that our defense yo the mat the ryan fitz magic is going to fizzle out by week 7 and you guys are going to be in trouble offensively you can now we’ll just put anakin and it’s okay no tyler hennike is a show he’s amazing is it taylor or tyler taylor taylor henneke he’s a beast oh my gosh last season during that that uh that first playoff game against tampa bay i was sweating i was doing a live remote uh for the radio it was for 96.1 it was me and martine and one other guy that we were commentating the game and at one point i kept having like to remind martine to talk because he was just he was so scared like i could see it in his face i was like martine we’re good we’re good he’s like i don’t know man i don’t know i don’t know right now i think brady’s about to lose to a a quarterback that’s never played in an nfl game i was like that’s not gonna happen we’re okay hey it was close it was close uh jordan said i worked for some orlando teams while i was in college have you had any cool stories seeing some of the athletes of tampa bay uh okay so i have not been behind the scenes for the buccaneers just yet i have my credentials still pending with them they’re being very specific with the whole coveted protocol so we’ll see how that goes hopefully everything is approved and good to go by week one because you know your girl has to be be there in the building for the dallas cowboys tampa bay bucks game i can not miss it and i will not be satisfied just here in the cannons from my front porch not going to happen but i mean some cool moments uh i well the startup of the xfl on the aaf i mean that was pretty exciting that happening uh you know covering the tampa bay vipers that was that was pretty cool to see you know quentin flowers uh the usf quarterback that came back to play for the vipers that was probably one of the best moments uh interacting with him and just seeing how he was he is tampa like not only did he you know come out and became the xfl uh uh uh qb1 but he also you know crushed some records while he was playing for the usf bulls so that was probably one of the most exciting uh moments in tampa so far but a lot more to come because i’m just getting started i’ve only been out here six months so we’ll see what happens hey hey that that that’s what’s up that’s what’s up i mean and you also got to you know do some stuff up here up in orlando as well i mean you got to meet a lot a lot of players up up there how what was that like uh so i covered i think one of my favorite moments uh was meeting stephen curry uh minnie steph curry at an orlando magic game was electric i mean the vibe coming off that guy aura coming off of him is just so positive and he’s just a really friendly guy um another great moment was getting it was being able to talk to dirk nowitzki i mean he is wow yeah he is a legend hall of famer and uh one of the games that i covered for the orlando magic they were playing the dallas mavericks and it was gonna it was the last time that dirk nowitzki was gonna be playing in a uniform in that building so i jumped on the opportunity to to interview him one-on-one and he was phenomenal and i just you know recipes to my father but i know he was screaming up in heaven because that’s one of his favorite all-time players so that was definitely a huge memorable moment for me to uh you know meet dirk nowitzki as well as luca i met luca on his rookie season yeah um i stood on the sidelines and watched him do his whole warm-up like the kid was phenomenal super friendly kid and he knows spanish better than me which was really embarrassing yeah when i was stationed over overseas and and the one moment you’ll be talking you know someone in one language and like it’ll just switch oh over there their education level is america we could do some work okay i would just say it like that like they put us a shame yeah yeah um let’s see here so you like you mentioned um and and in the previous statement you did have the opportunity of working for not one but two startup leagues in both the aaf and the xfl what was it like experience that from from like the media side uh we know how the aaf kind of was like the fire fest of sports startups and then you know you had the xfl which just kind of didn’t work out because of the pandemic like they didn’t get a fair shot what was kind of what was that like for both especially with like the aaf well i’m hoping that xfl is going to come back with you know the rock purchasing the actual franchise so i’m hoping that it’s going to come back with a vengeance i said i’ve heard that they’re projecting for it to start back up in 2022 so fingers across that the tampa bay vipers will make a return because we did we had a shaky shaky half of the season i think we were up to week seven when they decided to fold the league and uh they only won it was i think they were one and six when the league decided to fall paying gotta love them um to be around with those uh with those startup leagues uh i guess what i loved about the environment was everybody was new you know nobody was ever you know especially when it comes to the media we weren’t we weren’t like we never felt like we were you know shunned from the rest of the like everybody was like it was like everybody started at school in the first day like everybody’s there together we’re figuring out together you know there’s a lot of a lot of loose strings that need to be you know tied up but i mean it was a great experience to to see how you know a company works together to uh make it make a franchise successful oh yeah oh yeah much respect much respect i know i had tried to apply for both as a media member and it just didn’t happen uh but no that that that that’s baller as hell because it sounds like come 2022 you’re in a way walking right back into a job and not not many people get that with with these with these startup leagues with with these startup opportunities so i’m definitely excited you know to see you back back out there you know doing everything that you were doing with the vipers previously but i mean with the rocks money behind it you know you might be sitting there sideline reporting and like firebird’s just going to shoot about the ground or something like who knows you know right now exactly exactly they say it’s like me you gotta do like a taramana ad at the same time like you know so it could be crazy it could be dope i’m super excited um you guys have a bright bright future ahead of you with the xfl um the industry is a super tough place um especially in today’s climate uh how have you been able to navigate your way around the industry and i’m just going to be completely transparent just blind blade especially as as as a female like you guys have it a lot significantly tougher our industry’s a male dominated industry now it’s unfortunate i’m interviewing you like right now and it’s like ah like you know like we need more we need more representation so how have you navigated that and what has it been like well it’s been quite a journey i mean when they try to tell you when they try to warn you about the things that you’re going to hear from you know the male dominated industry and how people are going to treat you you never really take that stuff serious until you’re actually in that predicament but i’ve definitely learned in the past couple months that i’m a lot stronger than i thought and i’m a really tough cookie and that’s something that i’m definitely going to need to survive in this industry because there’s going to be a lot of critics there’s going to be a lot of people that are telling you you’re doing something wrong there’s gonna be a lot of you know people that tell you that your ideas are stupid and things like that and i’ve definitely just learned to like navigate through everybody’s negative negativity and come out at the other end with a positive um for example uh for the for the company that i was working with uh for prior to me um you know working for bucks report in sports talk florida again they they hated the name the truth they thought that it was very immature that it was kind of tacky and they they were like you know we want you to kind of evolve into like a grown kind of persona instead of this kind of childhood name that you’ve had for a while and i was like okay i mean i guess i understand i’ll take your criticism criticism and i’ll kind of process it and turn it into my own but i knew that with them being unhappy with it doesn’t mean that i need to change what i what i’m doing just because a certain someone you know wants to pick and tell you you’re doing something wrong it doesn’t really mean that you’ve got to fold your ideas and start from scratch so i kind of stood by it and was like you know what i really like the truth i’m going to keep it that way and lo and behold i just got offered a radio show called the truth so it’s kind of ironic how one company was like it sounds stupid and the next company is like oh this is hot we’re gonna run with it i find that very interesting because i relate to that very well yeah i’ll find that one company may not like you know the whole runways image or whatever the case you know but then another company you know or another brand or another you know channel or whatever the case may you know um i like what you said about you know just kind of sticking to sticking to your brand and what you know you’ve done and what you what you have going going on you know with the whole you know with the truth brand because it really is yes it’s just you and your personality and you know a nickname that that you’ve had for a long time but it’s evolved to where likeness is now in exchange for sometimes profit sometimes opportunity whatever whatever the case may be we see the same thing that these d1 players are dealing with with you know getting paid for likenesses so we’re in that same boat so i find it interesting because it’s like okay well channel a over on youtube may not like you know the whole run boys thing or whatever but nfl network is like yo you want to work you know yeah you know so like you never really know and that’s kind of one of the things i’ve always preached is like like be yourself stick to your guns yeah at all times like you never ever ever know what opportunities are going to come knocking on your door and then once that first opportunity comes knocking then all the big ones and all the major stuff starts coming and then it says deals and sponsorships and it’s just it becomes a snowball effect yeah i really like that you like i really like that you did that like you stuck with the truth you know like no i’m gonna give you the truth sometimes you know it could be the harsh truth it could be you know it’s never going to be the ugly truth how you say you know but like it’s real and like it fans react to that fans react to passion you know and you have a lot of passion like we see it on your content on your instagram on your twitter you know and just everything that you’re doing you know with radio with the also you know i remember uh i was like a while ago uh with the gronkowski show with the it’s chris right you were on with chris yes yeah yeah chris chris is [ __ ] awesome he’s so amazing um how’s that been like how’s that journey like you’re working with the gronkowski so i’m still doing the tom gronkowski show uh we have okay tom what’s up yeah the tom gronkowski show i started that with uh the sports fan base network rhode island which is now called the fans only sports network so i’m still doing that we’re going we’re trying to go live a few times a month obviously during the off season there wasn’t a lot of football to talk about because it’s a very box heavy contained show because we like to talk about you know tom brady and rob gronkowski’s journey from the bean town to the bay that’s our you know that’s our our bread and butter right there so we had a little bit of a slow down during the off season but we’re starting to pick things back up with the season kick the regular season kicking off in just a few weeks so yeah it’s been good it’s been a great journey i mean i just think that podcasting just helps you prepare for what’s next and i hated uh you know with the last job that i had they they made me shut down all my podcasts i was doing one with really called the beauty and the cleats and then i was doing the the tom gronkowski show and they were like hey you know what you should probably just eliminate those you know they’re taking up your time they’re creating bad habits that we’re starting to see in the studio and blah blah blah and i was just like well technically you guys found me on a podcast podcast yeah so it’s like how could you really say that it’s the wrong thing to do when it ended me here on a live television set like i never really understood that so i kind of felt like it was more of a control thing and it was more of like a containment i mean it became blatantly obvious when they didn’t even want to put my full name on the television screen ever as we were live for a whole two hours they would never put my name on the screen because they didn’t want to give me that publicity and i kind of just felt like it was just more of them trying to just contain me and keep me in a bubble and just keep me in one place and that you know i keep i continue to podcast because it just keeps putting myself out there keeps putting my content out there and i’m getting a lot of great feedback so obviously i’m doing something right so it just it’s another moment when you kind of think like all right well somebody may not think you’re doing the wrong right thing but if you truly believe in what you’re doing and if if you’re putting a step forward every time then you just got to keep running with it oh yeah oh yeah you’re definitely you’re definitely running a brand like you’ve definitely transformed it trying to transform roof the truth into a brand new that that’s absolutely obvious yeah that’s the goal i’m soon i want to start out my own website it’s going to be thetruth.com and and things like that so i’m just slowly starting to develop myself right now i’m not wearing the chain but i do have a necklace charm that says the truth and uh yeah i’m gonna keep running with it it’s something i’ve dreamed about for a long time it’s something that kind of clicks in everybody’s mind like the truth you know um as a kid i used to hate my name like everybody used to make fun of me like oh ruth baby ruth and all that kind of joking around as i became an adult i was like yo ruth is a really strong name so that really helped me perfectly because i’m a really strong chick and i i don’t think anybody’s bs so you know you got to stick to the truth at all times you even you even switched that twist that marketing into your instagram handle it it’s uh uh i want to make sure i get it correct actually you want to if you want a sports truth with babe ruth there we go there we go and i love that instagram that’s the instagram uh make sure to follow me on instagram i’m still trying to grow uh my instagram following um i’m not the best when it comes to social media so i’m still trying to learn to navigate how to gain followers and hashtags and all that work but yeah follow me on instagram i’ll give you a follow back i’ll be doing a lot of ig lives with bucks report with tampa bay sports and and other networks that we’re going to be doing a lot of collaborations during the football season so stay tuned for that just killing it just ah i love it i love it you know pain said i only use myspace he’s he he is a comedian that dude i’m not gonna lie i tried to log into my myspace like six months ago and i couldn’t figure it out but it’s still up and running believe it or not like it’s still there it’s still there yeah it’s still a thing it’s still a thing you’re out i’m like thinking in my like in my middle school mind like what would i mean my password in middle school like i have no idea i tried the same thing and i was like you know what i’m not even going to try and worry about getting these flashback friday pictures like just let everyone else on twitter have fun no one needs to see what i look like at 16. oh my gosh no one wants to see that let me tell you uh i was not oh i did not always look like this uh i was definitely an ugly duckling growing up and i was as skinny as my finger like that’s me [Music] tiny you know at 5 8 only weighing 125 pounds in high school like you look i look like you could just blow me over so i i’ve uh you know the older i’ve gotten i’m aging like fine wine so everything’s all good here hey you know you know that is what it is in my position as they say black don’t crack so you know yeah the industry uh or oh wait wrong question i was about to read the question i just did well rookie mistake right um given the time period as a as a reporter broadcaster you know everything that every title that you wear in in your in your field how much has covid affected kind of each each different i guess aspect of the job i mean you know writing is different you know i can write here at home you know but like how has it affected you know just all the different aspects well i mean it’s just it’s been it’s made everything a lot more difficult you have to do everything from home you know you have to watch the games from home you have to uh you know put your story together from everything that you saw at home and and you miss a lot of things you miss press conferences you miss sideline you know incidents you miss a lot not being in the building so that was a little bit difficult to navigate but i tried my best you know being involved with all the zoom meetings for the teams and things like that and i mean it definitely made me learn how to be a little more more tech savvy than before because that’s what that’s the survival tool that you need uh during these challenging times and with with kovid being an issue so but let me tell you that whole year of not having you know with you know the world being shut down businesses not being opened and i i’m that was like the best thing for me because that’s when i really started being like oh i need a i need to put some pep in my step like this is that life is life is not life is flying right now so i gotta i gotta really put my like pedal to the metal and that’s kind of when i started my podcasting journey and everything’s just been full speed since then and after losing my job at disney because kovitz shut you know the state of florida down and they actually closed disney believe it or not yeah that’s when i really realized like i need to do something else with my life like i have all this free time now like i got to figure something out so that’s kind of when i really took the time to you know take five classes a semester get everything out of the way and be at this moment where i’m standing now yeah and you killed it like you were doing like like online you know during that time period i mean yo i took six classes man takes classes during a summer flex semester so it’s when they take a 12-week course and put it into a six-week course and i decided to take six of those because i’m like i just want to finish like i don’t want to have to split it into two semesters i’m gonna get it done now and whoo your girl almost did not survive that’s why i had to go to vegas twice this month because i was just i need to blow off some steam uh yeah i went to las vegas for the summer league nba summer league uh earlier this month and then i went back uh this past weekend for the manny pacquiao fight the best experience ever i mean that might have been the last time manny pacquiao enters a ring and i got to witness it and that was phenomenal i almost cried well that that i saw i saw the picture on twitter and i was like damn like i still ain’t been to a fight yet like i need to go like something that was a bucket list item i definitely had to check off i love boxing and i’ve never seen it professionally live so that was definitely a bucket list moment yeah there was a lot of there there’s there’s there’s a lot of people like last week in the previous week like vegas has been vegas vegas in miami has been like where all my friends have been flying they’re like like when are you gonna go like when are you gonna go and i’m like listen i will be there for labor day weekend my first time out of miami my first time out in florida well i’ve been to florida like i’ve been like jacksonville daytona like you know like in my eyes i’m going to florida florida so i’m super excited i’m i’m hoping that you know you guys uh down here you know that are in the in the florida area in the miami area show me a lot of love show the draft night out staff a whole lot of love and we’re about to tear your town apart are you coming for pleasure or for work for work for work yeah so so we have this little bit of fun in there exactly and not at least go out for one night you know that’s what everyone’s telling me was like just take a day to yourself and just like like you know go do stuff so i’m like yeah i’m gonna go out i’m gonna party you know yeah i’ll be your own boy for a night i love miami miami’s a lot of fun but i’m telling you there’s something about las vegas uh i’ve been in vegas seven times in the past three years and i just there’s something about that city like it’s not even about the gambling or the drinking but just there’s something always going on there’s going on yeah there’s always a dj performing there’s always a festival going on there’s always a show you know there’s a boxing match like there’s always just so much to do and um it was awesome to actually play blackjack for my first time uh with a friend that was kind of coaching me through it and i started with 300 and walked away with 18 so it was a good yeah but let me tell you he created a monster he’s like i’m trying not to go to the hard rock that’s like three miles away from my house i’m trying not to go you’re gonna go far right like this i have no business going but i want you so bad hey you know sometimes you know like you said you know you need that you need that that that little break um one of the things i find interesting about how you brought up vegas i actually worked work with uh one of the guys worked with for the sports we have pizza out in vegas and it seems like that’s becoming the new epicenter like i feel like like like these almost destined locations you know not destin locations because like no one’s you know what i mean but like florida cali vegas you know because of now post-pandemic life and and post-pandemic society we’re seeing these places that are about to become the epicenter for all the stuff that we’re doing you know the from the betting content the fantasy content um you know all the stuff that the consumer is really engaged in these are starting to become epicenters for content creation and i’m starting to notice like a lot more jobs open up in those areas so i mean hey just saying throw it out there don’t be surprised if roof you know takes a vegas shop sometime oh let me tell you i if i get a job with the raiders with the golden knights or with the lost or uh las vegas aces like i’m out florida i’m sorry you’ve been good to me but nevada’s don’t rain in vegas dry weather i’m all about that dry weather i’ve been dealing with humidity for 21 years so i’m ready to like i’m ready to go try something else i’ve never lived on the west coast i’ve always been an east coast girl you know east coast is the east coast is what they say but i don’t believe east coast is the beast coast west coast is the best coast though yeah yeah i i love cali i’ve been to california a few times but i don’t i don’t like the smog i don’t like the i this i hate smoking cali cali’s dirty air over there is kind of kind of kind of sketchy like i don’t think that we should be breathing that stuff in you know when you’re well when you’re coming in at lax you just see like a layer of smog over the city and i’m just like that can’t be healthy like like no last time i was in l.a i literally walked out i walk out my hotel room and i’m pretty funny i walk out my hotel room and rapper trippy red is sitting like right there like right there but like he’s chilling like no i was on a business trip uh when i used to work in corporate america like i was with like a group of people that didn’t really know who he was he’s just sitting there got his little frenchie bulldog smoking a blunt looks at me he’s like hey man you want to hit this and i’m like and i like like i look at him and i look up at the the fog and like the swamp in the air i’m like it’s the same commit because contamination bro right now i’m good man that was like it’s the same shape like the whole ins indoors in cali is safer than outdoors but yeah yeah i got this which is really sad like it’s just it’s not it’s not okay i’m and people are always like you know global warming is not a real thing and all this kind of stuff and it’s just like you don’t see it like you could you could physically see it it’s like it’s it’s there yeah really quick i saw you i saw your face really quick i did get to chill with the trippy red a little bit later that week when i got away from all my colleagues yeah i was like yo i’ll go do corporate america [ __ ] yeah how about the ghosts oh that’s so cool so i have a moment like that too so i was at the ritz carlton in chicago visiting a friend and i come downstairs as i’m leaving the lobby there’s mike d’antoni sitting on the bench right inside the ritz carlton i freaked out like i tried to keep it together and i was just like okay i’m not gonna freak out i’m not gonna scream i like he was reading a newspaper like old school like legs crying newspaper like just chilling and i was like this is my moment i can’t pass this up and i went up to him and i introduced myself i told him what i was going to school for i was like i’m going to be interviewing you on espn one day nice he was like yeah okay yeah nice to meet you and i it was it was highlight of my weekend like i i did a lot of great things with my friends over that weekend but that moment right there i will never forget hey that seems like a very good tony thing to be doing just chilling in the lobby like reading a newspaper newspaper like those anymore like what is that hey when i when i fly and like i see people doing that like on flights i’m like you don’t have a tablet bro like what are we doing exactly it’s 2021 like game with the times final question here on the show and i think that this could possibly be the best question and probably the best question to sum up any podcast slash interview the best advice for the young up and comers in the industry but honestly we’re in a day and age where we say up and comers but there’s someone that’s probably you know my age at like 30 or you know someone even older like i’ve inspired people that are older you know i’m sure there’s going to be a crowd like that just to anybody out there that’s wanting to get into what what what you’re doing what i’m doing what we’re all in this space doing what is your best piece of advice ah my best piece of advice would definitely have to be never seek validation uh never depend on somebody else to tell you that you’re doing the right thing uh there’s gonna be a lot of snakes in the grass there’s gonna be a lot of people that are going to tell you what you want to hear they’re going to excite you they’re going to give you offers they’re going to do this and that but always have your best interests at heart because at the end of the day you’re the only person that’s going to have your best interests at heart so do you don’t seek validation don’t care about what anybody has to say one day it’s all going to pay off and you just never give up that was that about that that was really good that was that was good i like that that was very relevant to the moment of truth my drops that was the moment of truth all right oh i’m definitely gonna have i have i’m definitely gonna have post-production cut cut that one up right there um no definitely great advice especially because like the the the way the space is right now i feel like that everyone is constantly seeking for that that that validation you know it’s about what what company you work for what up and coming company you work for you know and everyone gets gets too tied up and that how many followers you got how many you don’t have what your brand impressions all all this other stuff right and that really that’s not important how you make your audience feel this is important right exactly and the the relationships that you make in the industry is extremely important because when it comes down to it it’s all about who you know you know it’s not about your knowledge and how many stats that you can memorize and all that kind of stuff it’s all about the impressions that you make on the right people absolutely that is something that’s definitely helped me out because i’m not like i said i’m not a super stats person i’m not you know all about the numbers and all that kind of stuff i’m more of an opinionated uh sports uh broadcaster i just like to bring my opinion to the table and just bring relevancy to the game and that’s that’s what i that’s what i want to do every single time and and with some people just a lot of people just get caught up in in the numbers and oh you got to be specific and oh you were wrong it wasn’t on third down it was on fourth down and things like that but at the end of the day that people watch espn for that kind of stuff you know we’re here to podcast and just entertain people entertain the sports people and for the fans and by the fans you know that’s what i’m talking about that’s how we’re in the interview ladies and gentlemen let’s go ruth where can people find all of your content where can our viewers and our subscribers so that i can share my audience with you where can they find you yes uh i am now working with the bucks report network uh you guys are gonna be seeing follow back i’m i’m i don’t have a huge following and i always like to equally follow people back i’m not one of those like high notes people that you know i don’t want to follow anybody back my ratio i think that’s the lame so as long as you’re not a washington fan i’ll definitely give you a follow back that’s great hey i love it i love it one final question do you play fantasy football at all i did for two seasons i came in dead last the first year and then i came almost in dead last last year so i might i might just stop because i’m losing money let me i i could give you some pointers like i could help you out yeah the thing with me is like with fantasy football it’s like a baby you gotta consistently take care of it you gotta water it you gotta feed it you gotta take people off the bench you gotta play people you gotta pay attention to bye weeks and it’s just it’s too much i don’t understand how people have like six leagues in one season i’m like how do you keep them 35 years 35 35 35 okay like so you have all different players in all these different leagues mm-hmm yeah more power to you you must not get a lot of sleep you must not get a lot of stuff no actually no i don’t i don’t um but maybe that we can talk about that maybe one day when we continue working together i greatly greatly appreciate you for coming on today no um no worries ladies gentlemen this has been the
