Caldor Fire moves closer to Meyers and Tahoe Basin

yes uh in fact though we are on highway 50. i just want to make that very clear guys we are on highway 50 where there are a number of switchbacks alongside echo lake and let me just count out the number of spot fires that we are seeing here this is uh further down the road from where we just saw john bartel and here is one up that ridge right just there another one next to it so that’s two here’s three down here alongside the the tahoe basin side slope of the highway 50 corridor here another one sitting here that’s at least four five and six and another one through those trees so you could just see how this uh fire has been able to grow at such an alarming rate right because when those trees torch and we have seen them torch from time to time and that a finer uh fuel the think the pine needles the pine cones when that goes up and it flies up into the air it takes flight in the form of those embers that ash lands in the dry brush the bright dry timber and that’s what sets off these spot fires everywhere you look uh the ember cast going as far as three quarters to a mile we’ve heard from cal fire and so we are just we are just watching this fire continue to grow making its way closer and closer toward myers in the tahoe basin
