chargers here at sofi stadium jimmy garoppolo all right friend get out there man first quarter 49ers opening possession it's third and 12. jimmy looks over the middle for brandon ayuk and gets picked by asante samuel junior the second round rookie garoppolo finished three of six 15 yards and that pick you saw there third quarter trey lance time 49ers trailing ten to eight it's third and four lance connects with former charger travis benjamin the speedster for that 16-yard touchdown niners go on to win 15 to 10. all right so trey lance uh finished there eight of 14 102 yards two touchdowns and the pick we saw him sort of show that poise not get rattled by a bad play there um really showing that he can adjust and not get boggled down david we like this yeah we do like this and i think after you watch the first rendition of trey lance in the preseason you you were left with a little bit of the feeling that you had is maybe he's gonna be a little bit panicked maybe he's working through some things and i felt the same way kind of at the start of this game although he made some good throws in the first game you know this second week same kind of idea but then he started to kind of find that comfort zone stepped up in the pocket and i just watched the quarterback's eyes that's why i like to watch eyes and feet and how they get through progressions and how they confidently rip it when they see it and man he really started doing that and i loved what i saw in that last touchdown pass right here looking left reading the coverage flips his hips and just rips it in there with complete confidence so i honestly believe at this point this is the closest quarterback competition that we have going on because for me you know jimmy garoppolo coming in kind of throwing the high pass that was picked i mean do you really gain that much with having jimmy out there as opposed to having trey with just a tremendous upside i know you have a great team and that's maybe the issue is do i really want to roll a rookie out there and you know and take this team where maybe we can't go with a young quarterback i don't know that's a decision for kyle shanahan and what he's seen in practice but what i've seen so far i feel really comfortable with him as far as his progression goes especially after his last performance i'm so glad that you like trey land so much because the niners host your little brother's raiders on sunday all right baby it's a terrible game can't take it back now all right let's check out last night's list of top 100 players of 2021 presented by crown royal all right so here is the top 10 alphabetically not by ranking we'll know that order uh on saturday look at that devontae adams in the mix josh allen as well we've got d-hop of course patrick mahomes tj what an interesting list not a surprising list but baldy i'm curious as you're looking here at these 10 guys anyone you think should be among them well i respect the process mj and all 10 players are are very deserving there's two guys on the outside looking into the top ten one stephon diggs i mean led the league in targets led the league in receptions led the league in receiving yards and i know davonte adams led the league with 18 touchdown catches we love devonte but it's hard to believe that stefan diggs wouldn't be in the top ten so that that's one where there's a debate to me and then the second one is with alvin kamara not in the top ten i know derek henry is there and the king is the king but this guy averages a touchdown a game and really nobody can defend him and we haven't really seen a guy that can play like this since maybe marshall fall i mean he's just a unique blend of talent uh passing game uh you name whatever he's got to do and to me albert kamara is very worthy of being in that top ten you know baldy we always give you guys a top five right and when we get into those little clips at the end you're like oh well if i had a top six they had a top 100 and yet we still have debates as we get closer to the top ten right all right baldi kickoff in new orleans cam jordan he is always ready he does he discovered the stay ready ain't got to get ready mantra we'll have all the post game analysis and interviews from jaguar saints tonight at 11 eastern here on nfl total access all right let's take a look at the bronco seahawks game from this weekend there he is the highest paid safety in the nfl jamal adams on deck we go to the first quarter it's alex magoo starting at qb for the seahawks but he gets picked by justin simmons right there along the sidelines ck metcalf asking for the ball simon said nope i'll take that from here teddy b get out there at qb for the broncos who's acquired this off season this is the first quarter bridgewater finds jerry judy over the middle and run for 35 yards on that play two plays later its third and goal bridgewater to kj handler in the end zone and it's a two yard td teddy b 9 of eleven five yards on two drives all right drew lock you're up second quarter broncos ball second and ten locked pressured and sacked by jared hewitt it's a seven yard loss on that play next play third and 17. lost attacked again this time by raheem green fumbles the ball recovers it though it's still an eight-yard loss we go to the third quarter third and three here lock avoid some pressure shovel passes to seth williams he picks up 33 yards on the play block finished 9-14 80 yards on five drives broncos win 30-3 all right listen things are getting interesting in denver in this qb battle david boom who you got it is interesting and when they were both out there with the ones in week one and week two both of them looked really good they played efficiently threw the ball well and we saw the last play there that drew made and after the first couple of sacks and just under subsequent pressure he made a nice little flip play there's a little bit more that i get from drew lock and i i'm gonna preface that with he has to make good decisions he has to do things that teddy bridgewater will do i have no doubt if he goes in the game that's thrown to the right guy making good decisions under pressure checking it down when it calls for it but the ability that he has in his right arm and to make plays dynamically i think just gives him the edge if he can make those good decisions i know when he was in there you know this last time it was bad up front they had free guys running at him but this play right here you step in the pocket you don't know where to go this is kind of the dynamic that drew can bring you all along with the big arm so for me i think that i would lean towards drew lock just based on both of them and with the ones but it's pretty close teddy's played excellent teddy played he outplayed drew lock in this game dave i mean but but you know he he he got a chance to play with the number one offensive line you're out there you know with dalton reisner and with uh you know all the guys up front quiz and bear so i think and then he made the throws down the field the touchdown of kj hamlin was against the slot blitz i mean he he played well drew luck goes in there the first two pass plays daisy sacked and it's just not a fair fight to really look for the competition i think drew lock deserves that chance to go out there with the number one offense and to see if he can do what teddy just did and then you can really evaluate what the competition is like i i know they're charting everything in practice and all that kind of stuff but for the game purposes like give drew a chance to play with that number one with judy and hamler and all the group out there and see what he can do you know here's where i struggle a little bit guys because i i i'm a big fan of teddy b and i'm always saying i want him to get a real town as a real qb one right and we've seen some iterations of him on several different teams of different scenarios but he has been a premier i think backup qb which not a lot of teams can say they have i think when he's at qb1 there seems to be a dip a lack of consistency for me i do want to see what he could do as a true true starter but i'm on the fence here i think drew locke is is he was a starter last year i think david sort of alluded to that might be the chance for him there i don't know oh these battles stress me out y'all all right let's keep it moving uh pallet cleanser here more weak action from week two lions at steelers big ben roethlisberger getting his first preseason action of 2021 this is first quarter big ben uh punk fakes out the cameraman uh and gets uh pat friar moved in the end zone for that 11 yard touchdown briar move one of the most interesting picks and also funnest names to say uh in pittsburgh next dealer's possession still leading seven nothing for pittsburgh friar mouth once again eight yard touchdown this time roethlisberger played three series finished 137 yards two touchdown steelers win it 26 to 20. so here's a look at week three pre-season action this weekend on the nfl network we start you off on friday night vikings at chiefs 8 pm kick here on nfl network saturday full day for you don't even make plans sunday same three same thing a three-peat all the way through patriots at giants all right nowhere to keep it locked on the nfl network as we round out week three of preseason it's also a good time to get your fantasy drafts in order here's marcus grant with a look at the white house we're checking out my top five fantasy wide receivers for 2021 now my number five wide out is calvin ridley he was already knocking on the door of the elites at the position julio jones's departure could mean more targets and a chance for ridley's production to go to the moon andre hopkins holds steady at number four a change of scenery last year did little to change nuke's production as the top target in an up-tempo offense hopkins continues to be a quality early round selection stephon diggs slots in at number three diggs and josh allen formed like voltron last year as the wide outs set career highs in targets receptions and yards don't expect much to change in 2021 tyree kill races in at number two the cheetah has been a top three fantasy wide out in three of the past four seasons and is still the wide receiver won in the nfl's most exciting passing game that gets us to number one and devonte adams now that aaron rodgers is locked in for 2021 there's no reason to bet against last year's wide receiver one giving us a repeat of his amazing<br><!-- wp:image
