it's edwin and today we're going to be looking at a very rare prototype from ernest emerson from back in 2013 called the hummingbird and this little guy right here is a sleep joint that's right from ernest emerson and we are going to take a close look at it but first let's go through the short description from ernest emerson himself about this this piece right here and then we'll go and do some comparisons and take a look at this knife now the title hummingbird prototype there's a long story behind this one it's our patent-pending sleep joint model we made when they were going to relax the regulations on carrying a knife on airplanes this knife appeared before a session of congress i have told you we really are famous in the worst play places prototype handmade hand ground circa 2013 and that's right you are proudly aware of other companies that also participated in this plan example a spyderco with the roadie sleep joint model that they actually end up releasing it to the market and it's one that you can purchase right now but not this one the hummingbird never made it to the production world for whatever reasons and you know we only know of four prototype and this is one of them prototype a in this case i don't know that camera probably won't capture that but there's an a stamp on the liners inside this model and look at that beautiful blade right there beautiful you know i'm a fan of my sleep joints i use my sleep joints for everything guys it's like my main secondary task style of knife is usually a sleep joint and cutting tape cutting my food anything okay i will use the sleep joints you know for the most part usually is this one right my beer and sausage from gec that you have seen in the past okay but okay let's go back let's look at this model man i wish they do a release of this ones and you can see a beautiful drop point with that classic grind from ernest emerson right it's a vigrant meaning that it's ground in both sides and in this case that nail nick is this type of you know it's not a spider hole but that hole on the blade right there very very cool then you got this very friendly right covers of a hummingbird right very friendly this was part of of making something that is just something you can take out in the airport or in an airplane and it doesn't cause you know people to get scared or anything like that so very very cool you can see it has some standoffs right there in the back and the lock or the you know the tension mechanism is through that stopping okay and that's probably what he means by that pattern pending slip joint how they're locking that blade it has a good tension on it you unlock it and then you can go back and lock it right there and it locks again with tension from that stopping okay some washers feels really good in the hand and in this case you will notice let me show you how it compares with the beer and sausage a great size in term of that handle and i love the thickness it has that you know that thickness from earnest from emerson knives that feels great in the hand in this case you know they have some rules they needed to to make sure they designed this knife for it was 2.6 inches or less but you can see in that frame you can easily fit a three inch or a 3.2 inch blade and i think they should go with that and do a slip joint just like that so it matches you know this is a three inch blade right here on my beer and sausage that i love great great great little knife of course this is a prototype it's a little bit rough in terms of the whole thing but if it looks great and it feels great great in the hand if they ever do a release of a sleep joint man i highly recommend that they go with that 3 inch 3.2 inch style and i will use the heck out of it very very cool and guys if you have any other question feel free to jump in on the comments on instagram let me say before i go they are four total models on this three of the other models are in his vault so we know that very likely he will be releasing those through area 51 okay so just wanted to throw that out there and this is the hummingbird very very cool little design one of those that you probably never knew that existed from ernest emerson okay and guys if you have any other comment feel free to jump in on instagram and incarloblaze.com i do have all the links of the main groups that i'm always hanging out and you know another thing i'll be in the gathering so if you see me feel free to say hi no big deal okay guys you guys have a great great day out there bye<br><!-- wp:image
