Guilford County siblings deported to Canada

A quick update about a story we told you about earlier this summer, the pandemic, creating trouble for two Guilford County business owners. You may remember Adrian and Miriam. The siblings moved from Canada to Guilford County 14 years ago, but back in May they forgot to renew their work visas. They hoped a petition would keep them in the US, but back in June they were sent back to Canada. We spoke to them earlier today. They say the pandemic has slowed the work visa process to a crawl. They applied for a new one, but because of COVID and staffing shortages, they haven’t heard back. And we’re just waiting. Which is what is the most painful part is the fact that we’re we are literally just waiting to hear from someone and we haven’t heard from anyone. Adrian and Miriam run a nonprofit that gives computers to underprivileged kids. Right now, they’re hoping a new petition and donations can help them sort out the delay in renewing their visas.
