question um i can tell you that volition took a really fresh approach to saints row this time around i think it's evident by that awesome trailer that back to the drawing board and essentially created everything from scratch we got new characters new city new gangs to take on the whole deal so i play the boss that's the character that the player becomes and the boss along with their three friends nina kevin and eli be fair that's the year that's been the art style for change all the time i've never been a fan of it personally but i know a lot of people think yourself that's their whole mantra right basically it's all about earning your own success you mentioned uh the city we can see it behind us tell us a bit about this city where is it what is it uh well volition created this brand new uh super vibrant awesome fictional city called santo alesso it's set in the american southwest and this city is just absolutely riddled with violence and crime and you're thrown right in the thick of it uh right off the bat driving shooting fighting you know just hustling your way to the top whichever way it's done and um it's really looking like santo lasso is the biggest and best saints row playground that they've ever created it's really awesome you mentioned all the activity in the city obviously we have to ask it's not the ogre style rivals what can you tell us about this okay it looked a bit to me from someone who's not like a huge or not they already particularly very fun it looks similar um and one of them uh los panteros you actually saw in the trailer just then and they're like all the gangs are incredibly dangerous but that goes without saying right and um they're really strong it's two hours oh okay an interesting way from one another and the point is which i think everyone can guess you gotta fight them and defeat them all to reach your goals well we are excited to learn more about this game i think i'm saying everything that everyone online is saying that's an entirely new superhero that we designed with marvel to be fully customizable so the player can put themselves into midnight suns and lead all those heroes you saw up against the ultimate evil in our universe which is lilith the mother of demons i love you made a new superhero now many fans are familiar with your work on the x-com franchise so i'm curious everyone wants to know oh yeah style of gameplay what kind of game is this midnight suns is a tactics rpg so you're not just fighting alongside all that's kind of cool actually of the marvel universe we all know and love but you're actually living alongside them and the relationships that you form with those heroes the heroes of your choice are as important as the items and the abilities that you bring into combat i got a lot of announced okay i'm actually november 5th i'm intrigued to see this alpha we'll be live with the champion hill mode but now it's time to get the first ever look at the campaign in we are action by dave swenson from sledgehammer games and laura bailey one of the stars olympia and the winner last year of best performance at the game awards great to have you guys with us we are so excited to get into the real game play but first dave uh you guys did call of duty uh world war ii couple years ago 2017 at sledgehammer now you're going back to ww2 how is vanguard different than what you did before first of all i got to say it's awesome to be here so thank you so much thanks for calling and it's also like it's super you know thrilling to be able to represent the team um behind vanguard so vanguard is a totally new yeah world war ii is known for huge epic battles on big battlefields uh and and those happen not only in the western front but also in the eastern front in the pacific in north africa and in vanguard you're going to be able to go to all of those locations and play in all those locations but as a team something that was even more with us were the real stories of the real people who fought in world war ii so these are diverse people from all around the globe uh and and i don't know there's there's something very inspiring about these true stories now some of the most interesting people that we discovered in our research were those men and women who were part of the original special forces teams and so call of duty bandwidth that's a cool idea their story tell the story of maybe because i like world war ii stuff but i think that's like laura we saw last week the reveal that you're going to be in this game which is i know it's been a lifelong dream of yours to be in a call of duty your character it ties into what dave's talking about tell us about your character paulina petrova yes i am thrilled to be in my first call of duty games i'm pretty sure she recalled like she called out the angel of death or something female role had the highest kill count ever in world war ii she's a soviet sniper about polina and when i started researching for the role was how many women were actually in the soviet army in world war ii there were tank operators and there were fighter pilots and some of them like polina were uh snipers and so it's it's just really cool to get to play a character that pays homage to someone like yeah i'm pretty sure that's who she yeah yeah she's the one that just had the highest kill count every deadlier all right well i i love that you guys take you know take the reality but obviously put the call of duty uh spin on it uh let's talk a bit about what you guys are going to show today i know you know treyarch's working on zombies you guys are working on an awesome campaign that's going to be interesting player this weekend but now we're going to do kind of a full a level play through of a bunch of stuff uh in the game what are we about to see here today that's right so as i mentioned earlier um the vanguard campaign is telling the sport the story of the birth of special forces and that leads right into multiplayer on day one there's a question maps so that people can go in and play their their favorite special forces operators one of which is paulina petrova yeah and so uh what we're going to show today which we're really excited to show this is this is game play this was captured in engine um and we're going to show an engine okay lena's story now the the vanguard campaign starts with with the team polina petrova and her team on their first special forces mission going into i can yeah you guys that regardless of what happens but this is the start of the war for polina the vanguard trailer in like two days on the eastern front got 18 million views regardless of what people say online and what it seems like cod is still set up here unbelievably big in paulina's life or character arc we're gonna see yeah i mean at the start of the game you really see her as a total badass you know she's she's no nonsense nothing rattles her and that's not an act she's she's seen it all she's looked she's looked the devil in the eye and said i'm coming for you and in this level you really get to see what what yeah you're you're right foxy it literally is she's bright and almost innocent in her outlook you cannot like cuddle you one that's fine but like you have to like it but all right well yeah it is still this big is not like a subjective fight vanguard enjoy i mean i'm a world of war with my favorite games of all time so i'm all i'm a sucker for any world war ii call of duty game to be honest with you and game in general but i always compare them to the world at war because it was a vibe that world war had world at war was as much a horror game as it was a world war two game and i loved that approach and world war ii didn't it didn't capture that for me at all i'll be curious to see i think with this being in the modern warfare engine this could capture that same vibe but we'll wait and see this looks very very very scripted i'm gonna be honest this looks exceptionally scripted she's gonna pick the knife up and throw it at him there you go [Music] yeah world of war was definitely the best world water ecology what the hell is that yeah world of war was definitely the best world of war is my favorite world war two game of all time i absolutely adore world war i world of war oh there's the destructible walls uh it's pretty okay this clock yo you can boulder dude there's bouldering in here there's bouldering in color g now would you look at that this this does look very very very scripted on rails though like exceptionally so it's sweet they're gonna swedish okay i mean obviously they're playing it like a trailer where you like move really slowly you aim really slowly you look at rooms and stuff but this it does look very very scripted [Music] quick time events for literally everything which i don't like at all i hate it when games do that every game needs some quick time event for like everything who's in the gun who's in that is it naganto i don't know i pronounce it i'll just call it amazing one of my favorite weapons actually in uh most in the gap okay one of my favorite weapons i mean i love that i love literally every weapon in world of war there's the shooting over cover thing holy that was actually real that's gonna be interesting on ante recoil that's surprising actually that recoil is heavy that's not recent call of duty's have been like they've had no recoil [Music] this feels very different to world war two thanks to call of duty world war ii thankfully the atmosphere and theming just feels very a lot less like a bombastic over the top and more like i don't know just it does seem better [Music] avoid the tank column as she walks straight towards it yeah i think i'm i mean i'm gonna be honest i'm probably gonna get this and play it like oh call of duty house assassination isn't halo doesn't i mean this had assassinations for years but though yeah i agree and i agree i think this looks i mean this looks very very scripted but the theming i like and i'm also a sucker for world war ii stuff so yeah why does this why does this music remind me of bioshock anyone else getting that kind of eye this gives me like bioshock vibes that sounds like the music that plays in bioshock 1 when you're in the the gondola for the first time and you first see rapture yeah it does right it sounds like bioshock music which isn't that's a good thing why you shook one of the fantastic soundtracks i'm not complaining please sound like the world at war stg please sign up the world war spg god damn it i'm gonna keep dreaming that thing sounded so good that's one of the nicest sounding goodness in any video game no this is meant to be about the like the birth of special forces it's not she's not meant to be special forces the whole theme is it's meant to be about like the formation of special forces uh like in the post i mean special forces were a thing in world war two as i mean at least as far as i'm aware but nowhere near out like as much as they were post world war two yeah this does look a bit like smoke and mirrors gameplay i will give you that i mean like i said it looks so unbelievably scripted why like why is why is she crouching like on the palace in like a base that i assume it looks like a soviet base why she sneaking around her own base [Music] watch victor reznov's gonna show up [Music] they sound that should be so scripted and like you can only do it in this very linear like way that'd be cool if it wasn't like that bro why does every game nowadays have a scene like this where like they're holding on to the edge and then it breaks off and they fall down and catch another bit like every game has this yeah they'll be invisible barriers everywhere ju ju 87 g2s with 37 millimeter cannons okay i'm not i'm not like like uh i like world war two stuff and i'm interested in it but i'm not like i don't know the specific names of like planes and stuff so that's that's interesting that's cool to hear i just i don't know i know the stupa has like like really iconic new sounds and i figured it was that though i like that they're doing all the different theaters of war in this like we're actually getting pacific we're getting uh north africa europe yeah i mean i think i think the hate for that is so overblown that looks league's better than cold war a surprise for you guys halo
