all right everyone we’ll give everyone a second to get in here first live in like a month so uh i’ve been pretty busy hey there flyers fan carter heart is the future is that you dolbert hi abram farher brian richards d what’s up keegan can you guys hear me good i gotta i’m using my mic tonight i’m at i’m mad i clam chiari what’s up colton what’s up taylor what’s going on ap from detroit audio is good nice thanks ben thanks chet caleb i’m doing well how are you roger brian what’s going on you’re 100 pounds and 14 can you play high school baseball sure you’ll probably be better if you weigh more than 100 pounds so hi vanessa who else we got in here alex michael yeah this is my first time doing a live in like a month uh july was july and august have been the busiest two months of the year for me i have not been home much been on the road i’m in a bunch of different states so how good was i at football um was pretty good for high school i don’t know how i would have done in college but all right looks like people are slowly getting it do i have a real job no i just go on youtube all the time twice twice a month sometimes once once a month i do have a real job i run a business called antonelli baseball we have about 200 players in it and uh i coach and run the uh the program thanks chad thanks kyle do i live off youtube no i’m i mean maybe one day when i have a million subscribers but i will almost have 200 000 that is not close to enough to live off of unless i’m just doing something wrong all right let’s see any tips for seeing pitches better um so there’s like some simple stuff that you can do but i think when it comes to seeing pitches better i mean i think the obvious stuff people like you know pick up the release point and all that stuff like i think most players are doing that if you’re not then i feel like something is wrong so i think picking up the pitches and picking up spin a lot of that has to do with practice practice watching bullpens practice um you know getting live at bats as much as you can even if you’re not swinging you know maybe verbalizing [Music] if you would uh if you would take or not just the way to get your brain actively kind of seeing the pitch seeing spin seeing like the small differences of the ball out of the hand i think will help you and then a lot of times actually i think seeing the ball oh we have a super chat i think seeing the ball has a lot to do with um with your swing mechanics how your body moves you know if you get jumpy to your front side if you if you don’t get your barrel in the zone early those those things tend to make you have to speed up because you know you can’t get there you have to cheat which hurts your ability to really see the ball and figure out what’s coming in so this would be a long subject that we could talk about but we could talk about for a long time super chat josh dmv thank you so much who would you draft first kyle saw richie givens or doug johnson well josh um i’d probably forfeit the pick honestly if if those are the three guys i had to choose i’d let the time run out on the clock and i just say somebody else pick i’d rather have no one whoops in fact give me that trash barrel over there at least i can use that to throw my trash away but that’s what i would do i picked none of the above and do we have option d uh chet thank you so much for the super chat did you like the field of dreams game and how about that ninth inning so i’ve been so busy i have not watched a baseball game on television for two months pretty much i watched the yankees a little bit when i was in new jersey because my uh our other 17 year old coach is a big yankees fan so we watched the games kind of after our days were over but i saw highlights of the game i did not see the game live but it seemed like a very exciting game your fourth steamer runs quite a bit hi tobin i think that movement typically is pretty good i think most people are fighting to get the ball to move more so i honestly probably wouldn’t mess with anything hmm who is winning the world series that’s a great question um i don’t even know who has the best record in the league right now because i haven’t watched the giants have the best record in the league it’s a total guess i literally haven’t watched major league baseball in forever uh hey man i graduated in 2021 and i never got scouted whoops i don’t want to go to college to play baseball is there a way to get drafted without going to college um you’re saying you graduated from high school in 2021 you can get drafted out of high school so that is one way um other than that i don’t know if there’s another way to get drafted i mean you can get signed no matter what you know you could go to a workout or you know have your uncle be the general manager of a team and get drafted but or get signed but as far as getting drafted i’m not sure all right i’m gonna have to make a slight adjustment to this because um i do i saw i saw the yankees are hot lately i’m gonna make a little adjustment because my microphone is here my tripod i don’t have my tripod tonight i’m just kind of balancing my phone and um i can’t figure out how to do this so hold on everyone i’m just going to slide i’m going to slide this over see if we can put the mic over here i don’t know if this is gonna nope that’s not gonna work because the mic is now in the shot okay we’re gonna go back over here again see if we can figure this out sorry just difficult for me when i want to scr every time i go to scroll through the questions i hit the johnny arena baseball thanks for the super chat i’ll be up your way soon let’s grab dinner what are you gonna be up here johnny i’m uh i’ll be up here for a bit i’m actually heading on a little mini vacation soon because i haven’t had one and john i just got your text also you could have just saved your two dollars and just text me but thank you all right trey turner vs tatis um i think both are pretty special players i mean i guess i would i would probably take tatis i think he might be the most talented player um but turner’s pretty damn good how did 17 you fail we fared very well this year we barely lost any games we played great baseball so it’s been an awesome year best record in the history of our program from this at least the least amount of losses in the history of our program was our 17-year team this year uh we had one team about four years ago maybe that was our best team ever they only lost i think like five or six games in the season but this team beat that record this year so the most underrated shortstop in the league i’m not really sure it’s a good question i just don’t know do you like girls play um yeah we let um we’ve actually this is the first year i believe uh that two girls tried out for our team so we typically don’t get any girls trying out but this year we got two they were both very good players hey matt what would you tell 18 year old matt if you could that’s a good question um not so much i tell 18 year old matt um i’d probably tell like 20 something year old matt to field some more ground balls so you can get to the major leagues quicker that’s what i would tell them you know what i would tell minor league matt i would tell minor league matt to buy a house in arizona or florida so i could live there all winter and field a thousand ground balls a day that’s what i would do because living in massachusetts in the off season i couldn’t really field ever i’d be in like a little tiny tunnel and like you know if you’re trying to play in the major leagues like that’s probably not the best way to go about getting better i mean i could hit a lot that was great but i couldn’t i couldn’t field ever so and i think i would have gotten called up even sooner um my manager actually told me in 2007 that they were basically going to call me up but he told them that i wasn’t ready defensively which i probably wasn’t but what did i throw when i was 14 i have no clue when i played i was 14 20 22 years ago um you know it’s not like today where there’s like pocket radars and radar guns everywhere like there were no radar guns then i mean there were but nobody owned them except for like scouts so i use a 34 inch 31 ounce bat um these questions are going really fast now is size important for hitting i think strength and size helps with everything pretty much um so i don’t think it’s everything but i do think it’s it’s um you know i don’t know if i’ve ever seen a player say like you know i’m too strong you know like i always played better the stronger i was so um do i think purchasing a pocket radar is worth it it depends i think i mean we use a pocket radar a lot but we’re evaluating players all the time so i need if if if you’re just a player like i don’t know if you really need to buy one i mean i think it is good to be able to monitor your progress but i mean i’m sure you could always just find you know it’s not like you got to monitor it every day maybe you say i’m gonna monitor every two weeks or something and then you borrow it from somebody but um we got super chat how do you say that reek okay reek i’m bad with names besides sean wooten who helped you the most to understand bad path load posture tilting et cetera if no one how did you learn these concepts uh yeah so sean wooten was the first person that explained anything really i shouldn’t say that a lot of people explain swinging to me jim lefevre tony muser those were kind of two of the two of the coaches that probably talked to me the most about hey mechanics but it was sean wooten who was the first person to explain it in a way that i had never really heard it before and so a lot of things that i talk about now or things that i kind of learned from him now there’s other things i’ve had a lot of hitting coaches in my life i’ve had dozens and dozens and dozens of them so i don’t want to say that everything i teach is exactly how he teaches it he actually tells me some of the things that i teach or not the way he would teach it but i think i just kind of i got a lot of info from him and then i just heard a lot of other people talking about hitting i’ve gone to i’ve talked to tons of pro hitters and college coaches and pro coaches and been to um see talks from from all types of different coaches so sean’s probably the biggest influence and there’s tons of little bits and pieces that i pulled from everyone thank you for the super chat byron thank you for super chat i hear enfield they should play with rhythm while listening to music help develop that yeah i think infielders need rhythm um you know i don’t know if music is going to help everyone i mean it might help some people my coach always used to say uh my first year in provo would say um you know do you know how to dance and if you said yes then he said you could be a good infielder if you said no then you couldn’t be um i wouldn’t exactly say that i’m the best dancer in the world some people might not might say i’m not the best infielder in the world i’m definitely not the best intro in the world but i do think you need rhythm you need good feet can helping can music help you do that i mean possibly i don’t i feel that with music without music i think fielding a lot of ground balls helps develop rhythm timing you know reading hops footwork all that stuff so um you can try it out with music but i just think you need to field a lot of balls you know why do every good infield i’ve ever played with or seen they filled a lot of ground balls a lot more than me and you and a lot of other people like they just feel lots of lots of ground balls why do players have such great actions from like the dominican and um they feel the a billion ground balls more than most american kids i’m going to the phillies game next friday i want to go i’m actually think i’m going to be away i’ve been working basically every day since december 1st that might sound crazy but i don’t know if i’ve i haven’t taken a day off as far as just like not doing baseball stuff i’ve had a few days where i’m not at the field but then i’m doing office work and all that so i have not shut my brain off in like uh eight months almost nine months so i am going to try to shut my brain off and go on a little trip hey what’s up david favorite infield coach trotsky or other yeah i think trotsky’s a good infield guy um i think um i think there’s a lot of pretty good infield guys but you know i actually the the infield guy i had a lot of good infield coaches bobby dickerson with the orioles i learned a lot from every organization actually i almost always had an infield coach that i thought was really really good same thing i took a lot of randy ready i had with the padres learned a lot and worked with mike borick a little bit with the oreos learned a lot um worked with travis fryman with the with the indians learned a lot from him um so those are all people i work with in person like trustee i’ve seen some of his videos and stuff he probably teaches a lot of the i’ll say this most good infield coaches in my opinion we almost all like teach the same like very similar stuff um hitting you’ll see like all these different things but fielding typically you’ll get like similar information some guys are better at explaining it than others some guys are more detailed but get a lot of the same stuff ellen thank you for the super chat there’s no question there there alan but thank you um mar 15. um have you ever farted on your wife or kids um we can ask laura that i i can’t say that i ever farted on them no i can’t have my kids fired on me pretty much every day and they think that’s funny uh dirt or turf fields i like turf fields personally maybe it’s just because i’m a coach i think it’s so much easier to not have to take care of it to you know we don’t rake it we don’t do any of that there’s you know there’s no bad hops really i can just hit a million ground balls nothing better for me than hitting a ground ball on a turf field i just like that still doing that 90 mile an hour on your channel i haven’t done that in months i haven’t thrown a ball in months i to be quite quite honest i don’t have any time it’s been a lot of days over the last two months where i’ve woken up at 6 00 am and done baseball until 10 p.m and then gone to bed and woken up and done it again for multiple days in a row so i have not really had any time to mess around do i have a dip in no i do not dip world series winners i have no clue um i said earlier i have not watched i haven’t turned my television on in like i don’t know how long so i i don’t even know what’s going on in the world of major league baseball right now um fan of kenny powers yeah legends and cards thank you for the super chat hey could everyone give this video a thumbs up or hit the like button whatever you want to call it i just realized i never asked anyone to do that legend cars thank you super chat there’s no question there but thank you very much and then same thing alan another super chat with no question but thank you do you think the giants will win the world series i mean they have the best record in the league i haven’t watched them play very much obviously you don’t just get lucky with the best record in the league i don’t want to say they’re not the most talented team because they’re playing great but i’ll say that they will not win the world series i always thought i had a dip in all my videos no i i put i haven’t made a video about having dip but i don’t have a dip in i mean i’d probably look like that if i had one in um evan thank you so much for the super chat do you believe in old players being able to come back and have a major league career like with roy hobbs in the natural um i think being an old player making a comeback is really difficult i think most people don’t have any clue like people tell me all the time like hey matt you’re still young you should make a comeback i’m like you don’t know baseball like when i i stopped playing when i got released at what 28 29 something like that i was considered old when that happened like if you’re in the major leagues you’ve been in it for a while at 28 you’re not considered old when you’re in the minor league still um hey tobin take a hike um so yeah i’m very old and most players are old like if you’re a major league player and you take some time off and try to make a comeback like i think it’s possible to do it um if you’re a minor league guy like i was a career minor leaguer i played a little bit in the major leagues but like would be very difficult for me uh chet thank you so much for super chat what do you think about the cubs totally dismantling that game well i don’t think any fan likes when their team dismantles their their team like that but um and and that was probably one of the i mean that was weird to have so many players right like you see rizzo gone you see brian going you see baia’s gone you see who kim will gone like they’re just like mass fire sale i mean i don’t think it’s very often you’ve a team has had that many players that have all been traded at the same time so um i guess i was a little surprised but if they don’t feel like they can resign those guys and don’t feel if they feel like they’re more than a few years off and and have to really rebuild then i guess that’s what you do is zotani having the greatest season ever um [Music] maybe i would say from possibly i don’t think we’ve ever seen a player do what he’s doing so if we have it’s been a long time any tips on starting a travel ball program yeah just start small and do a good job and um you’ll grow like we started with three teams and now we have so many players come to tryouts that i don’t know what to do with all of them so i know you know we could make like 40 teams now if we wanted to which which we don’t want to do we’re not going to do that but the basic way we did it is we well i think everyone in our program works really hard and we really care about our players we don’t do it to try to make money because if you want to make money don’t start a travel baseball program um and so we enjoy being around players i enjoy coaching i enjoy helping players get better if you do a good job you get players better you care about them people will see that and usually spread the word and word travels very quickly and then your program gets much bigger jack thank you so much for the super chat matt you’re too humble in your videos love the channel thanks jack i uh well when you get out as much as i did in my career you get humbled baseball humbles everyone i mean even big leaguers get humbled seven out of some of them most of them more than seven out of 10 times i don’t know why i have uh i have so i’m a huge patriots fan i think most people know that that watch my channel and i sat down to do this and i put on my my youtube tv on my computer and uh i put the pats eagles preseason game on again which i’ve already watched but now i’m watching it again why don’t the orioles ever seem to improve actually i was with the orioles for one year and we were actually pretty good not i didn’t help that at all but we were good haven’t been too good for a while though so i don’t know alan thank you much for the super chat i think being good in the big leagues is like you know i do think some of it is the resources you have as far as like you know dodgers red sox yankees that have more resources than most teams but it’s like hello ray’s like the rays have been uh amazing so that’s only part of it you got to have smart people that draft well and develop players and i think developing is such a huge thing and i don’t want to act like i’m an expert because i don’t work in player development when i do teams but i just feel like certain organizations clearly are doing a better job of of developing than others whether that’s you know i think drafting and signing players whether you’re talking about internationally or whatever i think selecting the players and getting a hold of them is one thing and then okay we’ve got them now how do we develop them so and some pro some teams have done that really well and others have not matt you are so handsome i don’t know i feel like i’m getting pretty old but i appreciate the super chat thank you what else do we have here let’s see matt jones or cam newton well my son would say mac jones um i’ll be honest i would probably say mac jones as well i’m a huge cam newton fan even after last year’s kind of not good year i still i just like cam newton um i think mac jones is gonna be very good i know i’m basing that off of two preseason games i just like everything about the guy so far i like the way he moves around the pocket i like his accuracy i think the ball comes out quick i think i just think he’s really good again i’m judging that off of two preseason games which mean nothing um but there’s been a lot of players in the past that i’ve i’ve well i shouldn’t say i got everyone right i saw jc jackson play one quarter of football in his first preseason game and text my dad that he was going to be a stud he’s turned out pretty good there’s also been some other players that i said we’re going to be really good and they haven’t been so but i do think mac jones is going to be very good and i think he is the long-term answer for sure with the past but i do think he’s a rookie and i do think they’re going to probably start cam and see how that goes but i would not be surprised if cam struggles that they go quickly to mack jones you play catcher is that a better is that position a better chance of getting signed um i think that uh i actually had that conversation today with jack dawson i do think being a really good catcher i think it’s easy to stand out you’re involved in every every play i think being a pitcher is the easiest way to stand out um and then i think being a catcher is another easy way we’re watching you receive on every play we’re going to see you block and see you throw all the time you’re involved in every play you know sometimes it’s hard to stand out as a position player if you’re a shortstop second baseman outfield whatever i mean you might get one ball in a game you might get no balls in the game so um yeah i think if you’re a really good catcher it’s tough to be a really good catcher if you’re a really good catcher then you know it’s it’s it’s always hard to get signed but it’s probably a little easier easiest infield position second base i mean first base i think is pretty easy too but second base was pretty easy yeah if you want to be make it to the big leagues other than catcher yeah be a left-handed pitcher for sure my son’s a left-hander and so um you know he’s six so he’ll play 15 years in the big leagues what what kind of nutrition did i have uh horrible nutrition my whole life i eat whatever i wanted i had no body fat and i weighed like 215 pounds so i got really lucky could eat crap if i told you guys what my diet was like in the minor leagues in 2007 i ate chipotle panda express yeah those two pretty much every day every day and uh everyone thought i was like a health freak because i was in really good shape but i just ate whatever i wanted by t wagon uh you live in canada i do think um coaches will find you where our scouts will find you wherever but you know it just depends what type of baseball you play in canada i’m not an expert in canada baseball canadian baseball i don’t want to say that so but my guess is if you came to the u.s to play i mean i i would think that you might have a little bit more exposure but like i said there’s people everywhere watching don thank you so much for super chat my son is playing my son is 13 playing 15u tb tv as in team boston tb a big kid 510 190 throws really hard and hits bombs catcher pitcher problem is he’s a slow runner dale killer in high school um no i don’t think it’s a deal killer um if he’s a catcher then speed probably isn’t hugely important although i think there’s a point when you become like a base clogger i mean i’ll say this the worse that the running tool is the better your other tools are gonna have to be so um that’s what i would say and so i would be working on my speed if i were him oh tb equals travel baseball got it got it got it um yeah so i would just work i’d work a lot on on speed at why is he slow i don’t know i don’t know him um is he out of shape is he really weak is he you know there’s a lot of things that it could be so i would try to figure that out i’m not a professional speed coach or anything but i would find someone that could help him out maybe his running mechanics are really poor although my guess is it’s more than just that but i’m a big fan of and again i talked to all our players today about this like thank you allen for the super chat again hopefully you’re not putting questions in because there’s no questions there but i talked to our players today about um you know you’ve got to evaluate yourself self-evaluate and figure out what do you do well what do you not do well and then work on what you don’t do well while also obviously working on your strengths but you got to try to take your weaknesses and and and eliminate them so if you’re you know the way i said if you’re slow as then you can you can’t come back next year the same speed like you got to get stronger you got to get better shape you gotta run um who has the my favorite swing my favorite swing in the mlb would be uh that’s a good question there’s too many good swings to name i mean i like i mean all the best players i like tatissa swing i like trout swing i like um i like um a cuny swing i like soto swing i love drifty swing yeah but he doesn’t play anymore you’re on alvarez yeah good hitter 14 year old to throw high 60s and 5 pitches that you could throw for strike oh boy she’ll get tired now because i’m up so early every day um yeah high 60s is a 14 year old isn’t bad five pitches for strikes i mean i don’t even know how you throw five pitches but yeah i usually think three pitches for strikes are really impressive so um sinkable soup thank you so much for super chat is there a steroid penalty for antonelli baseball uh we don’t do steroid testing so i have no idea if our players are on steroids or not um if i found out a player was on steroids i’d say don’t do steroids that’s what i would say but we i mean i’ve never had to put a penalty in because i would never know if anyone was on steroids i guess unless somebody told me they were which i don’t think anyone’s going to do so mar 15 thank you so much for super chat um you had your biggest poop ever today congratulations salary cap and major league baseball i’m actually going to do a video on that that’s an interesting question i mean i do like sports i do like does your wife go does my wife cut my hair no this was actually done at a barber um i lost my train of thought there i have no idea what i was talking about what did i say my haircut oh salary cap and and mlb um i mean i like football because it’s a salary cap i feel like it kind of evens the playing field a little bit so i mean i guess i’d probably be in in favor of something uh we are still doing travel ball yeah antonio baseball is travel like that’s what it is um you know like the youtube videos and me talking right now like that’s all just fun but the business our business and like what we do is we have um it’s travel baseball do i recommend any supplements so the only supplement supplements that i use as a player would be a protein a vitamin i did use creatine and that was it so those were the main ones that i used i’m very excited for football yes um i had a lot of the creatine worked great for me a lot i gained a ton of weight and strength when i use creatine so um not everyone’s like that but the day i did add her all the best day of my life um no i wouldn’t say that but i i would say that i was pretty i felt i felt like a lot of guys were cheating after that day so centaupios are regina’s uh centapios i like that question though bill but you gotta go you can’t go to the one in in peabody is that where the one is yeah you gotta go to the real one and you can’t get it to go either you gotta go in and eat it there nothing better than some santarpios my wife my wife’s favorite pizza is intarpios i actually went there a lot but not as much as her and i thought it was always good but then um but she loves it so much that we started going more and now i really love it yeah you got to go to east boston exactly you’re a lefty but can’t turn on the ball uh well i would i mean it’s it’s something to do with your swing what is it tough to say you know are you diving into the plate making tough to pull the ball are you there’s so many things i guess that it could be i’d have to see your swing can i call laura down lara’s actually in the room next to me i’m in the office right now she’s in the living room watching friends she’s gotten this huge like friends in this friend’s kick so um a hundred a hundred what does that say a hundred kids for a fifteen year trial that’s crazy yes we we had a hundred players try out for our 15-year team and um you would think that’s really good which it is great like i think it means that the program is doing a lot of stuff right we’re not doing everything right but we’re doing a lot of stuff right um but the the hardest part about having 100 kids try out is you have to put teams together for 100 kids and you have to let everyone know and then you have to let players know it didn’t make the team and you know it’s a lot of work so we’re actually like and i’m the one that puts all the teams together i get input from all of our coaches we talk pretty much every day but i’m the one that puts all the teams together you know like we got like the big board i don’t have like an actual big board i have it on my computer i’m like sliding the names around and everything but it’s a lot of work it’s a lot of work to evaluate that many players and um in a very short amount of time you know how many players did you cut from tryouts uh hundreds and hundreds and hundreds i mean we had 100 kids just at one age group we have uh 11 12 13 14 15 16 17. we have seven age groups uh we’re probably gonna have an 18-year team this year but let’s just say seven age groups and we had at least i don’t think we had less than 50 at any age we had 115s we had like 80 at uh 14s 80 something i think i don’t know over 500 players easy at trials uh nate oops let’s see the super chats everyone i missed a couple of them travis bell thank you for supporting name one world issue that gets you fired up oh man um that’s a tough question i was gonna say i usually don’t talk about a lot of non-baseball stuff although we’ve been talking football um i don’t know what i would pick as my one world issue i don’t like getting into like political stuff in here because then everyone will just get mad at me let me think about it for a minute you’re two years old and thrown 9 000 miles an hour will you make it to the big leagues and i’d probably take you deep um thoughts on franklin pierce uh have a really good program so a lot of good players go there um i haven’t watched them play a game in quite some time but i do know that there’s a lot of good players that go there so do do players talk about anything other than baseball when they socialize uh yeah i mean players are human beings just like everyone else like i don’t know how old you are that asks that but people ask me that a lot it’s like when you’re at work and you’re not working or even when you are working hell i mean one thing i haven’t worked in many offices but i have worked in a few baseball offices and maybe i’m just crazy but like when i’m in the office when i’m working like i want to work and uh but people all want to talk about like stuff other than work so if you work you know what that’s like it’s the same thing in baseball like just because you’re on a baseball field you’re not always talking about baseball there’s baseball talk going on but it’s like people are talking about what they did the night before what they’re gonna do that night you know their girlfriend their family their the weather i don’t know i’m gonna talk about everything uh did i watch trey turner’s smoothie slide ever i actually made a video on it so yeah i did watch it oh man my back is really hurting what was the hardest pitch for you to hit uh all of them i’m just kidding um probably a hard split finger fastball really difficult to hit funny dugout stories yeah people ask that all the time like what’s the funny deco stories the story i mean i don’t know something funny happens that i got every day so like it’s hard for me to think of specific examples i also have a terrible memory the only thing i remember are like actual baseball games and plays and like stuff about baseball but like dugout stuff i don’t i don’t remember um uh alan there’s a question i believe you were the one that sent me all the super chats okay let’s see what you said here um you wake to babe ruth players field it’s heaven you have no clue how to meet players who are on my level uh what can i do oh that’s a good question um i’m not a hundred percent sure how to find players on your level because i don’t know what type of level you’re at um i also don’t know how old you are i don’t believe um i don’t know how to answer that question i’m sorry but like if i was trying to find players if i knew nobody if i lived here and i didn’t know a thing i would try to figure out where the local fields are who plays there you know again i don’t know how old you are so like for me i do know some of the local fields in the area and then i figure out who runs the fields and then i talk to those people and you know there’s like a league there’s a north shore league in our area that has that i could play in i’ve been asked to play a few times but like um you know i’d find that league and then i’d talk to those guys and see what other leagues there are and that’s how you start figuring stuff out but start talking to people i’m around baseball people all the time so i guess it’s easy for me to get all that info but favorite memory with blake dewitt i played blake dewitt a lot i don’t remember of my favorite memory but i feel like i played against them a ton of times which was more fun for you high school baseball or travel you know as a player i need to sit back here my back is killing me let me see if i can sit back at all um as a player i would say that um probably well it depends high school baseball i really enjoyed high school baseball because there’s you know you’re with your your group of guys every single day and you’re trying to win a state championship um but when i played travel baseball it was a lot different than today there weren’t many teams it was super competitive like super competitive um you actually had to like compete and qualify for like the you know the whatever you want to call it the national championship or whatever um so that was a ton of fun so and then when i got older i started playing i went and played for this team called the ohio warhawks who you know that was super competitive and then we’re trying to win same thing we’re trying to like win national championships so i don’t know if i i would probably say high school because you’re playing for your school and but a travel base was a lot of fun for me did you watch any olympics if so favorite event i did watch some of the olympics again i was so busy that i just didn’t turn my tv on much the last two months but uh my favorite event what did i watch my son was really into it he liked uh he liked diving uh he liked archery i watched basketball i watched a little baseball we watched a little gymnastics what else did we watch that might have been it uh let’s see rocco wants to know can you advance to first and drop third strike at 11 here yes you can 11 you can 10 you you might not be able to but uh 11 you i coached 11 you this year and you could advance to the first when i dropped third strike swing rail any thoughts i’ve never used a swing rail before i’ve seen them um oh whoops hold on one sec do i have a super chat oh nope i just answered it thank you chet um swing rail i’ve never used one and um i’ll say this i don’t want to say it’s not good because i don’t know i’ve never used it i do know when i watch the videos like their promotional videos i don’t like any of the swings that are on there so you know maybe those players just stink i don’t know but i don’t want to i don’t want that to be my swing so it might not be the tool they might just not have good actors in their promotional stuff but uh oh joe flacco run joe uh mexican league kbo uh personal experience i never played in either league um i mean i think all those leagues are solid leagues um i don’t think they’re the major leagues but i think they’re solid leagues with a lot of really good players there’s a lot of good players around the world you know i think high school kids forget how good the players are around the country i think college kids somewhat feel that way also but i think they forget how good players are around the world and you know sometimes college kids don’t get signed or whatever and they just like yeah you know i can get signed it’s like you’re competing with the whole world and newsflash there’s a lot of people in this world that play baseball so really really hard to play you know professional baseball has a good pitch ever been hit hard every time the balls hit hard they say uh the pitcher made a mistake yeah that’s all bogus i always say that like that the the pitcher and their mistake is like i think just so overrated that’s saying it’s like anyone that’s pitched knows that they you know oh i i my biggest pet peeve is when when someone will hit a home run or something late in the game and they’ll be like and uh you know whoever clayton kershaw or max or whatever they made one mistake there and it was one too many or whatever it’s like shut up dude you think he made one mistake all game no he made plenty mistakes they just didn’t hit home runs on those ones like no pitcher anyone pitched before like have you ever pitched the game through 98 pitches and been like man i only threw one ball where i didn’t want to throw it no i mean there’s lots of balls that don’t go where you want to throw them there’s lots of mistakes but hitting is hard therefore there’s you know you can make mistakes and get away with them you know maybe you can’t to bury bonds but to most people you can get away with them now you throw too many mistakes eventually someone’s gonna whack one but like the whole mistake thing it just kind of bothers me byron thank you so much for super chat best way to get an athletic scholarship basketball baseball football uh be really really really good that might sound overly simplistic but be really really really good i mean there’s no really other ways you can’t like you know again unless your dad is like the coach of some college and he’s gonna give you a scholarship or whatever but like um like what do college coaches want they want um good players number one good players um it starts there and then it’s you know after that it’s good people you know um good qualities as far as work ethic as far as you know being a good teammate there’s a lot of those things too but like it all starts with talent ability and especially in today’s world with so much technology and the everyone is connected so much it’s like the the the time of like oh i play in a small town so nobody’s seen me play it’s like you ever heard of youtube like do you have a cell phone like every you can everyone can find everyone so you know if you’re really good if you throw 95 miles an hour like you’re gonna get a scholarship and you’re you know i don’t care if you’re from uh freaking wyoming and how and even if you have no cell service we’ll figure out there’s gonna be a way for people to find you legends and cars thank you so much for super chat have you ever seen a locker room brawl that mlb did not see on camera and who was known and i will be for being a tough guy i’ve never seen a brawl in any of my clubhouses personally um what’s the wackiest things i’ve seen um the wackiest things i’ve seen in a clubhouse uh two things stand out one um i believe he was dominican player brought a gun into the clubhouse and uh everyone was like dude like you can’t have a gun in the clubhouse he thought that was pretty normal i thought that was a little strange i’ve only seen that once in my life and then uh i saw a player bring up like a machete into the clubhouse like this humongous knife and he was like kind of like going like this and everybody was like huh like um everyone was kind of freaking out about that so sean sullivan how hard did he work out on the off season mound workout uh sean sullivan’s pretty good and he worked pretty hard he i know he did some cressy stuff to get his body into shape um you know i always thought sully was like super talented but he was always kind of like a little bit of a slow mover that didn’t have a great body like um and then he really i jose and then he really i don’t want to say he got dedicated but he was able to figure out how to get his body in better shape how to get a little bit stronger move a little bit better be a little bit more explosive and then he went from like 81-84 to like 87 to 90 and now he’s continued to throw harder and harder and now he’s gonna i’m sure he’s gonna have a great college career and i would i would be very surprised if he doesn’t play pro ball and maybe play in the major leagues one day thoughts on legion baseball i think it just depends where you’re from i mean i know in our area like travel baseball’s kind of taken over um legion baseball and it’s like when i played when i was younger legion baseball is much bigger you know now it’s like there’s 472 000 travel ball teams like i can take a baseball right now and throw it out my window and probably hit somebody’s facility um and so it’s like everybody plays travel baseball now because there’s so many teams and like um you know i think that’s really hurt legion i’m sure in some parts of the country the legion is still pretty good not so much in our part uh ej thank you so much for super chat do you think the tigers will shock the world and finish in second in the al central instead of the guardians as a sox fan i’m scared for their future hold on a minute um i have no idea sorry ej that was i thought about that for a while to give you no answer um i don’t even know how the tigers are doing this year i’m gonna be honest i don’t watch the tigers play i haven’t watched anyone play like literally i have not watched a major league baseball game other than the yankees in the last two months and i said this earlier it’s because brian manduk who coaches 17u black with me um is a huge hankys fan so a few weeks ago when i was in jersey we’d go to the field all day long and then when we get back to the hotel we put on a yankees game how do you get a high school level questionnaire issue it’s my second year and i’ve put in a few hours every day for at least two months i’ve gotten pretty damn good should i keep writing so somebody knows me oh a high level coach like what type of high level coach it depends on um like you’re trying to like a college high level coach i know mlb service time did you see what the old mariners gm said about before getting fired um i did not see what he said what did he say casey mize is pretty good yeah real talk do you think anger has a place in pitching anger i think every player plays differently depending on the emotion so like some players play really well really good baseball pitching hitting whatever when they’re angry some players don’t play well angry at all um some players need to be really excited some players need to be really calm some players you know it’s so it just depends every player is different you know like in general i think baseball is a tough sport to play angry but i mean i’ve played with plenty of players that are pissed off all the time and they play really well i know players i can’t play like that also so i think it’s personal thing how you’re kind of wired everyone’s wired a little differently um coach mo’s softball how much you push a kid to play a position that helps a team over the position he really wants to play it’s a great question coach mo we’ve run into this a few times listen i think it’s like you know depending on the level like i coached 11 you this year every player told me they were shortstop i was like hey fellas um news flash there’s only one player that can play shortstop at a time and you know i’m not going to rotate a new shortstop every inning so um i think it depends on the level and when they’re younger everyone wants to play shortstop everyone wants to play infield and it’s like dude we need outfielders too and a lot of players that think in fields their best position they’re not very good and they’re better in the outfield and i see that a ton like players tell me i’m an infielder i’m an infielder and in my head i’m saying no you’re not an infielder okay i might give him a little bit of time in the infield and then i’d say hey why don’t you try the outfield and all of a sudden like kid’s great in the outfield so um i’ll give players a shot but it’s like again depending on the level like i’m not just gonna be like hey everybody play shortstop here we go we’re just gonna like probably not doing that and uh if i’m playing the win like if it’s high school ball and i’m really playing a win like i really could care less what you think your best position is i’m sorry like in scrimmages and stuff i’ll give you a shot but then i’m playing the best player and uh you know i’ve heard a million times from players and parents like oh my son’s a shortstop i’m like well well really because i can’t i can’t tell because he’s not playing it very well so um hopefully that helps dc and toe it’s been forever just saying hi hope all is well kid thanks dc doing great i haven’t been on youtube in a long time this is the longest drought i’ve ever had on youtube and uh you know how i was saying this to lara today you know how i know i’ve been very stressed not sleeping and it’s because when i sit here at my computer and i’m noticing it now my back is killing me right now but like i’m always like this and i i have like knots in my my shoulders and my back grant britain brenton who’s a student thank you grant about to make a pb j i’m dedicating it to your minor league career you know what grant i hate peanut butter and jellies but unfortunately that’s all we got to eat i’ve made videos on this but grant knows but in case anyone else doesn’t you know like all we ate my first year pro ball was peanut butter and jelly really my first like couple years i hated peanut butter jelly i remember my first time like getting to the field like you get to the field at like say one o’clock and you play at seven you’re done at like 11 and i got there and uh you know i did the workout and all this stuff and i come in for food and it’s like a loaf of bread a jar of peanut butter and a jar jelly and i was like the hell is this like where’s the food and they’re like that is the food dude and uh i couldn’t even eat it i can’t eat peanut butter so i’d make like a jelly sandwich and choke it down and it’s just terrible legends and cards thank you again for super chat moisture urinated on his hands in the shower back in the day to toughen his skin so he didn’t wear batting gloves any weird practices yeah i’ve definitely heard that one i’ve seen players do that i said that one time the players and they’re like what are you a sicko that doesn’t happen i’m like yeah it does happen actually like i’ve seen plenty players do it and moyes of the lou did it i don’t know if it’s true like i don’t know if it works but i’ve seen a lot of players do it so um i mean that’s a very strange practice yeah other weird practices like that um i mean i don’t know we had a player that we had a player that would go hitting his only as jockstrap in his cleats when he got into a slump so i mean i’ve seen some weird stuff but we used to pee on each other’s feet in the army showers i actually a very well-known uh baseball player actually would pee on rookies in the shower probably shouldn’t say that but hey lara what’s happening wow lara’s going to bed before me this hasn’t happened in like ever i mean laura and i have been together for um we’ve been together a long time and i’ve never gone to bed later than her i look tired it’s because i am because i get like three hours of sleep every night i was gonna go to bed an hour ago but i said you know what i haven’t been on youtube in a long time let me come say hello to everyone how long have we been together for uh over 15 years now i think should probably know that but 15 years um jackson white thank you so much for superchat do you know about the law of attraction what is the law of attraction is that like if i if i see something happening i can thinking into existence is that kind of what the law of attraction is and jaden has left the chat um what does the third baseman need to get better out of work on uh third base for me is a reactionary position you’ve got to be able to be ready to move you got to be able to have good quickness one step in one step back one step left one step right you’ve got to have good hands because you can’t always use your feet to create a good hop at third base you got to be able to pick the ball uh and it’s a one-hand position you gotta be able to make one hand at plays because like i said it’s you can’t get in front of everything it’s gonna be left and right uh it might be step up and pick a short hop drop step get a long hop and you gotta be good at making uh on the run plays because you’re gonna have to field bunch you’re gonna have to feel choppers so those are some of the big things i think with third uh lara did play softball in field hockey in in high school i believe she stunk at both of them um but she did attempt to play they gave her a field hockey stick and a bat i don’t know if you can call that a player but um she stood up there with the bat and she you know swung the field hockey stick so i’m she told me she’s not get both so that’s why i’m saying that uh what’s the one thing that will help move you up each level well this is a super simple question answer but i mean players get moved up because organizations feel that they have um essentially that level is no longer challenging to them they have passed the test of that level and they’re going to go on to the next one and they’re just going to keep doing that until they feel like you haven’t passed that test and some players never pass the test and some players pass the single a test and the double a test and the triple a test and then they fail the major league test they go back down if you pass the major league test and you have a really nice career so that’s all it really is about you know you got to be talented but you have to produce essentially you have to produce um you have to produce consistently doesn’t mean you’re going to produce all the time it’s really hard but um you know who’s gonna produce the most those are players that are gonna get moved up major league organizations what do they wanna do more than anything they wanna win so they want players that are gonna help them win that’s it if you help a team win you’ll get moved up if you don’t you’ll get cut released and you’ll work a real job um ej slam thank you again ej does it matter whether bp is on the field versus having in a cage i hate when teams don’t hit on the field at games i think a lot of fans do too very interesting question i’ll say this i think there’s some value to hitting on a field and seeing ball flight and seeing how ball you know if you hook a ball if you if you slice a ball um you know sometimes cages can be misleading because the ball doesn’t go very far sometimes cages can be misleading because you know you hit a line drive to the back of the cage and you think that’s a line drive but it’s probably more of a ground ball you hit a ball a lot of times in the cage it goes up and hits like right up there and you think like oh i popped that up but actually on a real field that might be driven for a home run so um there’s part of that that i think i like hitting on a field now at the same time there’s certain players that don’t like hitting on the failure as much they’d rather hit in a cage because they feel like on a field it’ll get them a little bit more pull happy a little bit more like i want to hit a home run i want to see how far the ball flies getting some bad habits being in a cage you know there’s such thing as a cage bomb but like guys aren’t going to get as excited as that uh as doing that sometimes when you’re on the field hitting you want to put on a show you got fans watching get teammates watching you know so it gets some players out of working on the things they probably should be working on so there’s probably pros and cons of each i think it depends on the player um you know sometimes hitting in the cage is just less work you know you know a lot of times on like show and go games or sunday games where like you you know you’ve been playing a lot of games you’re just going to show up hitting the cage a little bit it’s a little bit less work less effort let’s play the game so alan thank you again for the super chat legends and cards thank you again for super chat any advice for a new youtuber sports card channel first bid got 75 views this week but feeling discouraged advice um yeah so i’ll say this congrats i mean that’s your first big got 75 views that means 75 people wanted to watch that thing i mean that’s pretty good um yeah i think the biggest thing with youtube is like you got to do it just because you love doing it if you just do it for the views you’re not going to get the views for a long time like i’ve been doing my channel now for i put videos up when i was playing like 15 years ago my first year i was putting videos up almost 15 years ago and like my first tons of videos nobody watched that stuff like nobody did but i just did it because i had fun doing it and eventually people started watching it so it’s like you know a lot of people talk to me about my channel now and they’re like oh dude like you’re so lucky that you put videos up and that many people watch it i’m like yeah man because i put 3 000 videos up like i put like people now like oh you get paid for youtube you’re so lucky i’m like yeah i get paid not a lot but i get paid but but my first 2000 videos i made zero dollars so if you really want to do the math i’ve probably gotten paid like a penny an hour which is probably not a very good investment of your time but again i didn’t exactly do it because i thought it was gonna be a business i just like doing it so if you do it and have fun you’ll do a good job more people will watch it and eventually it’ll take a long time to build it up but um eventually you’ll get there douglas albert thanks so much for super chat in your experience how bad does a very good defensive catcher have to be at the play for their defense to not matter hold on how bad does a very good defensive catcher have to be at the play for their defense to not matter okay got it um well you could say how bad does their offense have to be or you could also say how good does their defense have to be that um they won’t get pulled out of lineup because they can’t hit so i think it really depends like if you’re an automatic out you know you’re gonna have to be pretty damn good at defense but the catcher’s a defensive position you know so it’s like there’s some guys in the big leagues playing catcher that can’t freaking hit at all i don’t know the i i mean i don’t know the exact you know you’ve got to be this good in order or to hit like i don’t know the equation i don’t know if there is an equation i’m sure there is you know i’m sure the rays have some type of equation they’re freaking smarty pants so um all i know is catcher’s a defensive position that’s what they care about most if you can really catch and bring a ton of value to the pitching staff and to the team in general from your defensive abilities and you don’t have to hit a whole lot you know at what what point is it where they say you know what he’s so freaking bad at hitting that he’s not helping our team win and he’s causing us to lose or we have somebody else that can that can provide us with more wins in this player then you know that’s when they make the shift but i’m not smart enough to figure out like exactly how much that is but um you’ve got to be able to play defense if you’re a catcher mar 15 thank you for the super chat he’s got a fascination with farting did you ever pass gas on your sister nope can’t say i’ve ever done that can’t say i ever want to do that um joe vigiani best hitter defender and pitcher on the 08 padres okay best hitter adrian gonzalez best defender that year maybe kevin kuzmanov adrian gazelle is also a really good defensive player but i think coos like barely made any errors that year i know errors aren’t everything i don’t know the exact defensive metrics on the guy but he’s pretty damn good and best pitcher jake peavy probably with trevor hoff trevor hoffman also but he was getting a little bit older so i’d say jake peevy so there you go good question joe all right ever heard of doug ladder yeah um i have i’ve had some buddies and stuff that have hit with them i’ve watched some of his stuff um you know i like talking hitting so i’ve never talked with him before but he does videos where he talks hitting so i like watching him could laura make it to the mlb yeah it’d be close what does pregame consist of is it different at home versus on the road um hold on one second everyone what time is it right now wow it’s 11 14 i do have to go to bed soon because i have um i have a ton of stuff i have to do tomorrow uh home verse road a pregame routine is essentially just going to get there later when you’re on the road i have a bunch of videos on youtube if you go check it out that i talk about the exact routine that we did both home and way but you’re just going to get to the stadium later as the away team because the home team hits first in batting practice so everything’s just a little bit more condensed on the road but essentially it’s the same type of thing max williams thank you for the super chat hardest aspect of recruiting nowadays i would say the hardest aspect is that the timeline has got pushed up so far that college coaches have to make decisions on players so far out like they have to project a player like some of them like their freshman year of high school they have to figure out what they’re going to look like as a freshman in college like unless you have a crystal ball that’s pretty hard to do so i think that’s probably unfair i don’t like the timeline that it’s at right now i just think there should be something done so college coaches don’t have to do that i mean i think it’s quite um ridiculous that there’s players that aren’t even in high school yet and are worried more about college and recruiting than they are about playing in high school baseball like hello like i think that’s crazy i played during a time when nobody committed till their senior year and i thought that was fantastic because you know why because i never thought about college recruiting i thought about winning games for my high school and i thought about becoming a better player and then finally my junior my rising senior summer i finally got to think about recruiting but you know how nice that was to not be worried about it every second of the day you know how many high school kids now it’s like they can’t they haven’t even made a high school team yet they can’t even play high school ball and they’re talking about recruiting you know it’s just like craziness um and i’m sure i don’t think any college coach is like you know what man you know what i love about recruiting that we have to recruit freshmen in high school like that’s what i want to do like i don’t think anyone does that how the hell do you even do that anyway kid’s 14 i got to project what he’s going to be as a 19 20 and 21 year old like i have no freaking idea and i see all these guys all the time this might sound like a rant but i see these guys that commit like their freshman year to like these big d1 programs and then you watch him as a junior or senior you’re like this guy can’t play there you know why because he was recruited as a freshman so if the kid happened to be six three 225 as a freshman you’re like damn this guy’s gonna be good and you commit him and then four years later he’s still the same size and his skill level hasn’t improved because he actually didn’t have a ton of skill when he was younger but he was just so physically mature that he looked amazing as a freshman committed to other freshmen and now he can’t play at that level and then the kid’s going to either get a scholarship pulled or he’s going to go to school and stink and then they’re going to cut him and pull a scholarship and then he’s going to have to figure out what the hell to do like i just think it’s a disaster anyways rc from the nyc what’s up matt hey laura what’s up chad hope everyone is well do you think a team’s position in the standings should have an impact on a player being a candidate for the league mvp um here’s my thoughts i don’t you know i don’t know if anyone agrees with me or whatever but when i think of the most valuable player um i think of the best player right like i think of the best player um so if a guy hits a hundred homers hits 450 drives in 250 runs scores 200 runs steals 80 bags on 80 attempts and his team finishes in last place should he not win the mvp like he is the most valuable player his team just freaking stinks so like if you put on another team like i i just don’t understand that like he is extremely valuable um his team just is terrible so yeah i think he should be the mvp that’s my thoughts people be like yo but he didn’t help the team win well he can’t control that his team stinks you know like he can’t control that his pitching staff is terrible or his defense is terrible so that’s my thoughts mark 15. um 35 years ago i got grounded for farting in class i don’t even know how to respond to that actually i was thinking of something funny to say but i’ll just let it go anthony l thank you for the super chat nine you travel coach in illinois looking for info on high visibility tournaments for top players perfect game set can you do a vid on it um yeah i honestly i’ll be honest nine you 10 year 11 you have no flipping idea like i i know most of the older tournaments i mean we do um we do a lot of perfect game tournaments with our older players i think they do a really good job i don’t know how they do it at nine year 10 year 11 year all that stuff um so it’d be i’d be making up you know most of stuff in the video anyway but i do think as the players get older i think perfect game does a pretty good job at their tournaments um legends and cards thank you again for superset do you think ted williams would lead in every or most hidden categories home runs average rbi hits if he never served um in his prime and military yeah i think it’s pretty amazing how much time he spent away from the game and in the military during like you said his prime years so i mean his numbers were amazingly good obviously one of the best hitters to ever play and a lot of seasons were taken away from him so i don’t think it’s far-fetched to think that he could have led in a lot of categories our arturo gonzalez thank you for the super chat it says your message was retracted i don’t know why it says that but do players ever drink in that i go drink as in like drink booze um or just like drink gatorades artur gonzalez what are the chances a player with an off day is roaming a local beach hours before the game in your opinion uh zero percent i would say um if you have an off day you’re going you have to show up like everybody else i mean i was never like a hall of famer or all-star so you know i know i couldn’t but like i’ve never seen a player like not show up for with the team at the normal time because they have the off day pictures might be a little bit different but still pitchers get to the field they do their running they’re throwing their all that stuff so i’ve never seen someone be like oh i’m not playing tonight i’m just gonna go hang out the beach and not really come to the game to get ready until game time is perfect game worth it yeah that’s a hard question i don’t know what worth it is like it’s hard to say what worth it is i mean i think that um like i said i think perfect game tournaments can be very good tournaments i i don’t know about all of them we go to the um you know what’s it called wwba national championship i guess we go 17 you won it’s a good tournament i mean we play great competition down there best competition we play every year is in that tournament so if that’s worth it to some people might say it’s not worth it i don’t i mean for us the reason we go is we think it’s worth it we play good competition it gives our pla
