Shadowlands 9.1.5 MAJOR UPDATES (YOU NEED TO SEE)

Shadowlands 9.1.5 MAJOR UPDATES (YOU NEED TO SEE)

good morning good afternoon and good evening everybody thank you for tuning in to another super tease video and with this one we’ve got the juice we’ve got the big patch 9.1.5 system update so these are the updates addressing the major concerns that the community has had with shadowlands throughout and i will say that overall the messaging is very positive and for at least for myself well received i appreciate the way that it was worded and how they’re looking into things internally at their company and they’re looking at things that were addressed collectively as feedback for their game overall i’m very happy with the wording of the post however things do get confusing when we get into the details and when i go over that after reading through this update i think we’re going to need some clarification with this and remember this is the first update and it does say that they’re going to look into it and potentially address further feedback as well and i have a little bit of that as well because i don’t think it’s going to 100 hit the mark with what we’re expecting of reading this the first time through which is why i really want to go into it specifically but overall here in the initial development update over the past few weeks since we’ve shared an update the wows team has been focused on the immediate future both for our people and workplace and what’s next for players too as a part of that the entire team came together to ask what are the biggest things we’re hearing are getting in the way of your fun and what are the most impactful changes we could make to wow today to fix that shadowlands update 9.1.5 will be going on the ptr next week i plan on looking at it because things get kind of confusing later on so if you’re not following this channel or sub to the channel right now make sure you are so i can go over those details because it could be very confusing and a lot of what you’ll find in it is the direct result of your collective feedback it includes a long it includes long asked for changes to make it easier to swap covenants and conduits updates to make it so you don’t need to repeat covenant campaigns on alts new character customization options for some races that were lacking them and many changes to help you play the way you want it also has updates to improve the game environment for our community including additional changes to some content to better reflect our shared values better visibility into the impact of your in-game reports of harassment and more serious penalties for people engaged in disruptive behavior we hope you’ll see something from your own 9.1.5 wish list when we post the patch notes next week and we’ll keep listening refining and building on that as we continue ptr testing and development of what’s next so you can see overall very positive uh i i was well received to at least myself in that post because they’re addressing a lot of significant concerns overall with the company and with the game itself and then for burning crusade they’ve announced that on september 15th it’s your content patch um so the raid’s coming out new pvp season and all of that so a great time for tbc most certainly on september 15th creating world of warcraft is truly a collaborative effort between the people on our team across blizzard and all of you and as we build iterate on and talk about what’s next we hope we can demonstrate our commitment to making azeroth the best place it can be for everyone now now that we’ve talked about this you know that’s the positive element of it um it’s looking like 9.1.5 could be very promising we need to look at the specific details on what is happening and then those are listed down here and remember that this is the this is the first update so i’m really hoping that the confusing element of this at least to myself and maybe if this isn’t confusing to you then leave it in the comments down below and i can update it but for myself i’ve already had to remake this video now four times because it’s confused me even after i’ve thought that i’ve sorted it out towards what’s specifically happening to increase our fun uh with shadowlands so in the next few days we will be updating our public test realm with a first look at patch 9.1.5 alongside feature updates like new time walking experiencing experiences with legion so legion time walking these point five patches falling in between full content tiers present an opportunity to focus on balance and revision of core systems and based on feedback and data from the season so far patch 9.1.5 will include several significant changes to the shadowlands covenant systems in particular and this is where things start to go a little bit haywire for me because first of all we’re reading this very positive yeah they’re talking about making it more fun they’re going to look at campaign missions they’re going to look at right now they look at conduits everything’s great wow they’re going to look they’re going to add all this extra stuff to be able to help with the game great perfect um but this is the specific change now right once you’ve reached a high renown threshold they don’t specify i’ve had to assume in this post that it means max level renown uh you will thereafter be able to freely switch among any of the four covenants without cooldown or restriction and let’s stop there because then they start adding a bunch of stuff on that kind of distracts you from this um there’s not there’s no specifics in this which is a little bit frustrating to me which is why i will have to look on the ptr myself to find this unless they update their wording so freely switch covenants without cooldown or restriction sounds like and this is let’s see if we’re on the same page here with you watching if i’m necro lord level 80 renown assuming that’s the threshold i want to go night fade that covenant looks cooler it’s better for my content that i want to try or i’m just curious to see what i can do it makes it sound like i’m going to switch to knight fay be level 80 renown and play from that point right so it sounds like but i don’t think that’s what it means what i think it means is at the moment in the game when you try to switch to a covenant right your renown is reset if you and you’ll have to level through that renown and that was the main hindrance for switching freely switching right that was the main hindrance and level it up and then you could play it i think you’re still gonna have to do that it does not say that your renown will transfer over or carry over to the new covenant if it did then i would believe that that’s how it would work but it doesn’t say that what i think it’s addressing is that when you let’s say you were necro lord you went knight faye but then you want to go back necro lord there’s usually a cooldown and a restriction preventing you from doing it immediately where you’ll be hindered for a week on going back to the necro lord that you were i think that that is being removed because that is what that is specifically looking at so if you wanted to switch to knight faye i think you will still need to complete the knight fey campaign you will still need to level your renown from zero on the knight fee on that character assuming you’ve never been that covenant with that character before and you will be hindered heavily by that and that is the main hindrance of this that i think a lot of players have been talking about now yes the cooldown and restriction part was kind of the annoying kind of mosquito part of it but it wasn’t the main hindrance of of preventing my fun in terms of experimentation and the way that the the rest of this post is worded makes me think that i’m right so if you switch to the covenant you will have to start over finish their campaign if you haven’t done it and level that renown but if you want to go back to the necro lord i think that you’ll retain your covenants renown because that’s how it is right now and you won’t have to deal with that restriction so great if you want to switch back but if your initial experimentation i think is still going to be significantly hindered i hope that they look into that or consider it but the way that the rest of this is worded i don’t think they will i still think that the main change of this will just be you can go back willy-nilly once you’ve unlocked the renown of that covenant once you’ve unlocked so if you switch to knife a leveled it to 80 you could then switch between necro and knight fay and they would still both retain all the progression that you’ve made and you can experiment but you will initially still have to level renown on every covenant then be able to freely switch is what i think this will be which i which again might might not be what you’re expecting and then you’ll be frustrated when you get into it and i don’t think that’s a good thing right now for the game so i really hope that they look into that and make it more clear with this post whether or not that’s right whether they should say in the post you will need to level your renown on the new covenant but going back you will be retaining everything so you can freely switch back i think the wording on this needs to be changed or more clearly outlined because that will immediately be frustrated frustrating to people that may be confused by this at least like i was from reading it both the covenant switching and the use of cosmetic rewards will also apply to alts once the renowned threshold is reached on one character so you’ll be able to switch your alts but again it doesn’t say well are they gonna be able to retain their renown or will they i i’ve the way that this post is worded is sounding like you can freely switch but you need to go through the covenant campaign on every character but maybe not because then when it says on alts they won’t need to so maybe this okay let’s just let’s just look at the rest of the post because again things get confusing conduit energy is being removed straightforward was not good just prevented experimentation prevented sort of just being able to try different things it was trying to i think address players going like out of a raid to switch their conduits on a boss and then go out and then go in and then go out and then go in um and they wanted to not make it feel like players needed to do that and i think that was the main kind of positive element of conduit energy but in reality it just brought way more negative elements than positive so i think overall everyone’s very happy that’s straightforward very easy to understand that one that’s a good one um now when playing alternate characters if you have already completed a given given covenants campaign on a different character you’ll be immediately able to earn the renown and third soul bind unlock without needing to replay the full narrative arc so this is a really good change for alts however what what is being made clear to me i think in this post is that you will need to to benefit from this freely switching and access on alts you will likely be expected to on one character play through the campaign and level your renown on every covenant that is the way that this looks like to me and you’ll be able to freely do that you won’t have a cooldown when you’re trying to switch them and you’ll be able to keep your cosmetic rewards while you do it but i think that it is expected that you complete the covenant campaign arc on at least one character for every cove every covenant and then you can switch and you’ll retain the renown right so if you’ve got a character right now like myself i’m necro lord so once i’ve hit the threshold on necro lord i could then go knight faye but i would anticipate that my renown will reset to whatever it was when i was knight fail on that character which might be zero if you’ve never been it and then i will have to do the knight fey campaign level that renown to 80 then i can freely switch between knight fan and necro lord and my alts will also be able to but then if i want to have characters be ventier i will have to switch that character to venthere level it go through its covenant campaign arc and level it’s for now until its threshold point uh and then i’ll be able to have that unlocked for alts but it also doesn’t clearly say what level of renown right for your alts the way that i read this is that you will because renown is basically broken into two different types you have renown rewarded from completing campaign quests and you have renown rewarded from completing random stuff in the game dungeons pvp raids right and there’s you can’t get max level renown with only one of them it prevents you right the way that this post lists this sounds like to me is you won’t have to do any of the covenant campaign again so you’ll get all the covenant campaign levels which might be 20. i’m sorry i don’t know the exact number on this but it’s not all the way to 80. um so you’ll still need to have to unlock the the kind of random renown right on those alts i don’t think they’ll automatically be going to max level renown um the way that this is worded is so it makes it sound like they want you to at least play through the covenant campaign on one character they now no longer expect you to do that on every character which is great but you’ll still need to do it on one which is a very long process if you haven’t already done it at all so i’m not sure this is gonna hit the mark the only way this really hits the mark for you is if your mains covenant happens to be what your alt covenant was going to be too so i’ve got a necro lord maine and if i was making a death knight for pvp i would be very happy my death knight doesn’t need to do the necro lord campaign quest anymore i can just jump into random battlegrounds collect some of the random battleground gear getting renowned randomly awarded to me to progress both of those at the same time and it’s going to be very linear and make a lot of sense it works perfectly for that but if my main is a necro lord then if i want to make let’s say a knight fey character i’m trying to think of a character that would be good in pvp with knight fan knight fade demon hunter that demon hunter will not have any of that story arc completed so it will not benefit from this ketchup mechanic it will have to progress from zero renown do all the covenant campaign and go through that process um so it’s still going to be expected in my mind here that you level from zero to 80 renown to the threshold um on at least one character and then the rest of the characters on the account will be able to switch to that and i’m not sure if that’s gonna hit the mark with what people are expecting um and i worry that that’s gonna be negatively received so when i when i check it out myself on 9.1.5 or if they can address it more specifically how that’s going to work and clarify because they kind of juggle this together with cosmetic rewards and kind of distracts you from any sort of specifics a little bit if they can just be very just nail the head specific with this um when i switch covenants well i have to level the renown again or specifically are you expecting me to level renown and progress the campaign on every covenant then i can have my alts caught up to that point on the campaign and they can freely switch uh just and just be clear just be clear with it because right now i don’t think that it’s clear and i think this will only benefit you in the situation that i’ve described where if your mains covenant that you’ve progressed through happens to be the same covenant of your alt you will feel a lot better progressing through the way that it is but if it’s not or if you want to switch covenants on your main you are going to be expected to go through the renown and the covenant campaign of that covenant at least once for that character and then you can freely switch this also doesn’t address legendaries which is a very important factor to experimentation and fun in in fun inhibiting uh parts of the game so if i want to switch to a covenant it often comes along with needing a legendary that has good synergy with that covenant that i want to experiment with at the moment getting soul senders to make even one legendary is already quite a lot um let alone wanting to switch to another one and then unlock it so i’m hoping that there will be which isn’t addressed in this post changes towards soul cinders and how they’re rewarded or the cost of legendaries reduced after making legendaries or legendary prices reduced on alts something to do with legendaries at the moment the only thing is that you can package your soul ash and send them to alts so they can get some maybe some 235s but right now there’s nothing that’s addressing legendaries um in terms of their cost and pricing which let’s say that even if you could switch your covenants and they retained their max level renown you would then still be waiting a month of tour gas to get the legendary that even was the reason enables the reason why you went wanted to go to that covenant in the first place so i do really hope that they look at the pricing of legendaries and as to how they could maybe make that more account wide um in terms of being able to just have your al also be able to play with the legendary they don’t really address that so for me i want more specifics and if we can’t get them i’m going to look into the patch myself and i would also like legendaries looked at in terms of reducing cost on your main character on successive ones that you’ve made let’s say you’ve made the first one it’s max soul cinders the second one’s half or something and third one’s a third and then reducing it over time so that you can actually swap experiment with different builds because the way that it’s built right now i don’t think any individual player would be able to actually try every potential outcome maybe they want it like that but i know for myself when i’ve enjoyed the game the most is when i can really dive into every little customization option and consider every little tweak and build and then throw them out onto the board and see what happens and try them out that’s when i have the most fun uh with world of warcraft and then and then revisiting alts once i’ve progressed through my main character i really enjoy that part of wow so i’m worried that these changes aren’t specific enough maybe they maybe the changes will work the way that you know that when we originally read it it’ll work like that but it’s not worded that way and i really want it clearly outlined because otherwise this could be disappointment and i really don’t think the game needs um needs that right now so those are the specific changes so let’s just finish the post while we hope many players will be pleased at the increased accessibility and freedom for experimentation these changes will permit we know that you might be wondering why we didn’t make adjustments like this sooner after all a large portion of the community has been vocal about wanting to see changes along these lines since mid-2020 when shadowlands was still in beta when it comes to the limitations on covenant switching millions of players experienced shadowlands for the first time through the lens of their covenant of choice and that would have not been possible had the choice carried less weight from the outset nevertheless after the conclusion of the chains of domination’s campaign the covenants are united against the jailer and revisiting player feedback in that context has led us to re-evaluate our approach in terms of the day-to-day experience experiences uh the advantages of a rigid division between covenants has diminished since shadowlands launched while the downsides feeling disadvantaged in certain types of content or having to choose between mechanical advantages and aesthetics have only grown that balance of factors no longer justifies the original limitations on the covenant switching so in patch 9.1.5 we’re looking to provide a way to circumvent them now remember i want i really want specifics for that right when i switch my main character to a different covenant am i 80 renown do i have to do that covenants campaign missions if i’ve never done them on my account because it makes it sound like you will um i want i want specifics with this uh now conduit energy however is a different story the system simply has not played out the way we had hoped it would we should have heeded community feedback and taken a different direction a year ago so this is what i meant by i i’m very happy with the way that this uh post reads um because it seems to just be very like almost not necessarily off the cuff but like you know more more from the heart right like hey this wasn’t good uh and we’re gonna change it and i think that’s important to like just look at it overall you know it’s like you had an intention with this great didn’t work out so the flexibility and willingness to to change a bit and i think that’s what was really important in this post for myself at least a majority of players largely ignored the system and are unaffected by it while the minority who want to engage in multiple types of content competitively feel constrained by it overall that adds up to a negative experience conduit energy isn’t really making the game better in any appreciable way so we’re removing the system entirely great now as for the covenant campaign skip for alts and the ability to freely swap covenants on alts that change is one outgrowth of many ongoing discussions within development team focused on feedback that at times players feel that the wow content they most enjoyed is locked behind experiences that aren’t nearly as appealing to them some of that feedback revolves around different play styles and content types but a consistent theme is that experiences that were fun the first time through start to lose their luster on repeat playthrough on alts and especially when required for power progression so just as the threads of fate system exist to allow players to skip the level up zone narrative on subsequent playthroughs we want to give max level players a similar option it’s and to avoid having to replay a covenant campaign they’ve already done okay so this post this post kind of clarifies it right they expect you on your account to have at least played through the covenant campaign once and reached the threshold of that covenant once that’s the way that this post reads to me now at the end of this having seen this final paragraph so if on your main character you’ve reached 80 necro lord you’ve swapped over to knight fay you’ve done that grind again to 80 all the covenant campaign you swapped over to ventier you leveled that renown and did all that covenant campaign you swapped back over to kirian you leveled through that progression you got that renowned to 80. now you can expect your alt to get the initial campaign missions completed but probably not max level 80 renown right um so you’ll still have to level the random renown would be my assumption i don’t think that based on this post it sounds like they’re going to just give your alt 80 renown they’ll just give you the renown from the campaign missions so you don’t have to repeat content that is not appealing the second time around right because that’s the way that this sounds like they expect you to do it once but not more than once which is better that’s certainly better but i don’t think that this is necessarily what everyone is expecting based off those initial changes to get i think what people are expecting to get or at least what i was expecting to get from my first read-through of this was okay once i’ve hit max level renown complete the campaign i can i can switch to knight faye and just play knight faye which for me as a competitive player means that it’s level 80 renown uh and i have access to all the soul binds and i can switch them freely what i want and then and then try with that build which is still inhibited again by the legendaries if i don’t have this covenant-specific legendary because i wasn’t a covenant i’m going to need to make that and if i don’t have enough soulcenters at the time i’m going to have to wait to then make that one to try that and again talking about repeating content that might not be appealing the first time around i kind of feel like torregast falls into that for a lot of players having to do tour guests so many times you know maybe it changes a little bit with a different torment but it still to me has been effectively the same experience the only major different experience that i’ve gotten from torahgast was from the one wing that’s kind of on fire and puts you on a time to try and get through it before you melt that was a different experience than the other wings but for the most part it’s still other than cosmetically you know it’s like slightly steel or fire or cold or dark looking tower it’s still pretty much the same no matter how many times i’ve done it i think that’s why my main interest in it has fallen back i know for a lot of players that may enjoy running through it and speed running it that’s great and i’m glad that the content exists for the players who enjoy it to be able to enjoy it um but i think for myself personally the major change to wow that i would like to see which maybe can’t happen in 9.1.5 but would be the philosophy that’s been applied to world of warcraft since about battle for azeroth which is world of warcraft is world of warcraft which means that players are expected to play all of the content within the scope of world of warcraft means world quest this means tour guest this means a rating this means pvp this means mythic plus dungeons right and i think that while that sounds positive initially right everyone does everything i don’t think that forcing everyone to do everything is the right move to me what was always amazing wow was wow i went to the pvp experience i got my arena rating i had a great time what else does wow have to offer i want to try raiding oh great my friends also are in a rating guild i’m going to go try raiding wow i had a great time doing this what else is available in wow oh dungeons i’m going to go try dungeons that is really positive that’s what i’ve had in my past experience with wow where it becomes negative is wow i really want to focus on pvp i’ve i’ve been watching streamers or something and i really enjoy it and i want to try my best in pvp oh i need to spend time in my week doing this other stuff which doesn’t feel like it’s directly affecting my ability to perform in pvp it’s affecting my character’s power but it’s not focusing on the mechanics specific to the content that i want to really focus on and it’s hindering me and it’s creating resentment towards it because it’s taking an already limited amount of time in my day to do something that doesn’t feel like it’s benefiting my own performance and the content i want to be competitive in and that has been my main gripe i think i mean not being able to play alts and all that stuff which they’re looking at but you’re still probably gonna have to do quite a lot of grinding has been a bit of a problem but for me it’s been that underlining philosophy that wow is wow and every player should be expected to do everything i really think that that should be addressed i think that it’s great that all the content exists in the game i think that it’s great that players can farm mounts i think it’s great that players can enjoy tour gas i think it’s great that players can do the raid i think it’s great pleasure i don’t think that any players should have their content removed from them and i’m happy that it’s there for everybody to enjoy even myself but i don’t think that it should be forced i don’t think players should be forced i think that wow’s endgame has some very um discernible lines in terms of progression you have raiders you have dungeon players you have pvp and these are kind of the three core elements maybe you’ve got tour gas speed runners um also thrown onto that it’s a little bit limited because tour gas eventually disappears um but for me i think players who want to focus competitively in those avenues feel incredibly hindered when their time has to be spent on something else that doesn’t feel mechanically similar to what they want to progress in for themselves so if you’re a mythic plus player doing the raid boss mechanics may have nothing to do with the dungeon or trash boss mechanics in the dungeon so doing the raid feels like you’re limiting your time on figuring out routes for dungeons or if you’re in pvp figuring out routes and dungeons probably has nothing to do uh with wanting to figure out how cooldowns trade between classes and pvp and so your time spent there is going to feel hindered i think they have been breaking this down a bit over time throughout shadowlands with the new pvp gear vendors um not forcing you to 100 to do music plus content but i think that it could be looked at a little bit more because that has been again my main gripe was where this philosophy which seems positive on the front is then forced on you and it doesn’t feel as good as it did in the past where just all this content existed i can freely go into whatever i want and start progressing in it as i choose to and i think that that was more valuable than this new model of of making you do the content but other than that again subscribe to the channel if you enjoyed this video i will be going into this more specifically because of course i care a lot about world of warcraft i’ve been involved with it for a long time so i’m hoping that everything finds a way to work out uh and then improvements can be made uh overall other than that thank you very much for watching the video i will see you in the next one thank you and good night
