congratulations i’m so proud and happy back in march you said that if the investigation confirmed the allegations against governor cuomo then he should resign so will you now call on him to resign given the investigators said the 11 women were credible i stand by the statement are you now calling on him to resign yes and if he doesn’t resign do you believe he should be impeached and removed from office let’s take one thing at a time here i think you should resign i understand that the state legislature may decide to impeach i don’t know that for fact i’ve not read all that data and he’s using a photo of you embracing him in his self-defense to say that these are commonplace kind of embraces that he made in the allegations against him do you condone that look i’m not going to fly spec this i’m sure there are some embraces that were totally innocent but apparently the attorney general decided there were things that weren’t let me ask you about governor cuomo of new york i know you said you want the investigation to continue if the investigation confirms the claims of the women should he resign yes i think he probably ended up being prosecuted too a woman should be presumed to telling the truth and should not be scapegoated and become victimized by her coming forward number one but there should be an investigation to determine whether what she says is true that’s what’s going on now and i’ve been very clear if the investment in terms of claims he’s gone that’s what i think happens the independent investigation has concluded that governor andrew cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and in doing so violated federal and state law specifically the investigation found that governor andrew cuomo sexually harassed current and former new york state employees by engaging in unwelcome and non-consensual touching and making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women the investigators independently corroborated and substantiated these facts through interviews and evidence including contemporaneous notes and communications this evidence will be made available to the public along with the report these interviews and pieces of evidence reveal a deeply disturbing yet clear picture governor cuomo sexually harassed current and former state employees in violation of both federal and state laws the independence investigation found that governor cuomo sexually harassed multiple women many of whom were young women by engaging in unwanted groping kisses hugging and by making inappropriate comments further the governor and his senior team took actions to retaliate against at least one former employee for coming forward with her story her truth governor cuomo’s administration fostered a toxic workplace that enabled harassment and created a hostile work environment where staffers did not feel comfortable coming forward with complaints about sexual harassment due to a climate of fear and given the power dynamics this investigation has revealed conduct that corrodes the very fabric and character of our state government and shines light on injustice that can be present at the highest levels of government but none of this none of this would have been illuminated if not for the heroic women who came forward and i am inspired by all the brave women who came forward but more importantly i believe them and i thank them for their bravery and i thank the independent investigators for their professionalism despite the attacks and for their target determination that brought us to the truth is president obama setting the wrong example about how serious coba 19 is by hosting a big birthday party with hundreds of people this week well i would certainly refer you to the team who is working for my former boss to give you more specifics of what the protocols are in place but i would note first that former president obama has been a huge advocate of individuals getting vaccinated when cdc provided gut has provided what cdc has provided guidance on is for indoor settings in high or substantial high zones of covid cases this event according to all the public reporting is outdoors and in a moderate zone but in addition there is testing requirements and other steps they are taking which i’m sure they can outline for you in more detail but is there any concern just because as you’ve said here and you’ve had people saying over the last couple days vaccinated people can still spread this delta variant around so is there concern that this president obama birthday party might become a super spreader event well i think peter the guidance is about what steps people can take when they’re in public settings indoor settings specifically was the new guidance to keep themselves and others safe in terms of what protocols uh they are taking i would refer you to them and i’m sure they can give you more details so people who are watching this at home and they see well president obama can have a party with several hundred people should they think that it is okay for them to have a party with several hundred people now well we certainly advise everyone to follow public health guidelines which i know the former president who is a huge advocate of getting vaccinated of following the guidance of public health experts would certainly advocate for himself as well i do want to get your reaction to a big story coming out of st louis the governor of missouri a republican has pardoned mark and patricia mccloskey who were famously photographed pointing guns at protesters during june of 2020 in those demonstrations in st louis you were actually among the marchers who encountered the mccloskeys that day mark mccloskey at the republican convention called you the marxist liberal activist leading the mob through our neighborhood what is your reaction to this pardon it is absolutely unbelievable there are other people that should that there are pardons that we have been asking for pardons that actually should happen in missouri and that was not one that was not one they stood there they pointed their guns totally reckless to a group of non-violent protesters walking down a street that had no clue that they lived there didn’t care that they lived there didn’t know them didn’t want didn’t want to know didn’t want to know them mark mccloskey is an absolute liar he has spat on my name and and because of that his day his day will come you will not you will not be successful in all that you’re trying to do when you are hurting the very people that are out trying to save lives nothing good comes from that he can try it but i will not stand by and allow him or our governor to hurt the very people that are doing the work that they should be doing so that was there are other people governor parsons that you should be looking at we have an activist that’s been sitting for such a long time sitting do something actually show up and be a the governor of all the people of missouri not just those that follow your type of politics that actually hurt black people that actually hurt brown people that actually hurt people who are unhoused that actually hurt our lgbtq community that actually hurt people who are of the muslim faith people who are are struggling in this country and people that are burdened differently than you stand up and be the governor of everybody it’s ridiculous congratulations i’m so proud and happy but they’re walking through the steps you guys are fabulous we are hopeful that it is what will help 11 million people stay in their homes 6 million families to be secure in housing where those children will be able to start school in the next few weeks and not have to worry about where they’re going to sleep this is a huge victory for working families this is a huge victory for the vulnerable and it is a huge victory for the power of direct action and not taking no for an answer so what is the disconnect here why does she believe you have the power to extend the moratorium but the administration is arguing you don’t well i would say that on this particular issue presidents not only kick the tires he has double triple quadruple checked he has uh asked the cdc to look at whether you could even do targeted eviction moratorium that just went to the counties that have higher rates and they as well have been unable to find the legal authority for even new targeted eviction moratoriums your administration is about to announce a new partial eviction moratorium coveted related can you tell us any more about that and are you sure it’s going to pass supreme court muster the answer is twofold one i’ve sought out constitutional scholars to determine what is the best possibility that would come from executive action or the cdc’s judgment what could they do that was most likely to pass muster constitutionally the bulk of the constitutional scholarship says that it’s not likely to pass constitutional muster number one but there are several key scholars who think that it may and it’s worth the effort so i don’t want to get ahead the cdc has to make this i ask the cdc to go back and consider other options that may be available you’re going to hear from them what those other options are i have been informed they’re about to make a judgment as to potential other options whether that option will pass constitutional measure with this administration i can’t tell you i don’t know there are a few scholars who say will and others who say it’s not likely to but at a minimum by the time it gets litigated we’ll probably give some additional time while we’re getting that 45 billion dollars out to people who are in fact behind in the rent and don’t have the money
