a reminder today of how these lockdowns are hurting us today’s unemployment numbers sounded fantastic i have to say unemployment now down to 4.6 i mean that’s incredible that’s the lowest for 13 years but one big reason it fell so low is that more australians just gave up even looking for work total hours worked actually fell and new south wales in particular a lot of people still have their jobs even though they’ve got no actual work to do so the treasurer wasn’t popping the champagne cool today today’s numbers show the impact that the lockdowns are having particularly in new south wales with a fall in the number of hours worked in the month of july of 7 and an increase in the effective unemployment rate to 8.3 as 230 000 people in new south wales became employed but on zero hours
