US Army veteran helps former Afghan translator escape Taliban

[Music] today say something smart [Music] why am i doing this or why do we have such a close friendship it’s i don’t know if i have a specific answer for it we spent a lot of time together in very intense situations in afghanistan i mean that brings you closer to somebody uh abdulhaq and i were we were shot at by the taliban a few times together and he goes into combat unarmed as every interpreter does completely unarmed so there were a few times where i had to grab him and throw him down in the dirt or in a ditch to protect him and i made a promise to him just as america made a promise to him to protect him and save his life i mean how can you turn your back on that promise [Music] brushes [Music] [Music] as i see the situation here people they enjoyed their lives i wish also to have this kind of life to enjoy my life to enjoy every single moment and have fun everything here but unfortunately it’s very hard for me to do it because physically i’m here but my brain my mind is all the time about afghanistan is in afghanistan because i’m thinking about my people about my parents about my family [Music]
